For me, the challenge has been worthiness (the sister to self-love.) My growth path has been about
seeing myself clearly as the competent person I am, recognizing that I hold great value without needing to change or be different than I am and that I am worthy of being paid and having more than enough money for my needs.
Initially, This lack of worthiness showed up in my career. I accepted a position that was underpaid, even for the kind of position it was.
My subsequent bosses at that fortune 100 company had an ongoing challenge fixing that initial hiring
mistake, as I set land speed records for promotions, and received performance awards. Yet I felt like an
imposter and that I was never enough.
When I went out on my own with my first few businesses, it became even more apparent that self-worth was an issue. I had pay-what-you-will and barter arrangements figuring large early on.
My "douh" moment - the landlord and the mortgage folks don't do barter, so why am I?
I also spent a lot of time and money on "success" programs and business courses, that yielded little to no results. Either poorly chosen (some were crap, others were simply things I'd never do) or I'd get stuck trying to get it implemented.
I finally drew a line in the sand. I am enough, I know enough.
