19. How Fathers Can Give their Daughters a Better, Brighter, Fairer Future with Michelle Travis Ambition Theory: Women in Construction

    • Business

On this episode of the Diversity at Work podcast, we are sharing a special episode in honor of Father's Day. I sat down and talked with Michelle Travis, who is a law professor at the University of San Francisco School of Law, and the authour of the book, Dads for Daughters. In this interview we talked about practical things that fathers of daughters can do today to make the workplace better for women, so that when their daughters get to the workplace their daughters can thrive and can more easily get into a leadership postition if that's what they want.

Unfortunately, today in the workplace the gender gap is real, and the progress that we're making is very slow, and if we don't speed things up, things are not going to be different for the next generation. Today, even if you tell your daughter she can be anything she wants when she grows up, the truth is it will be harder for her, especially if she wants to be in a leadership role.

The reason I'm sharing this today is to give fathers very practical tools to take to their workplace right now and implement them in order to have an impact and create a place where everyone can thrive, including their daughters.
