In this episode we look at the moment where the villain enters the story - death. We talk about what the phrase "you will surely die" actually means, and how it points us to Adam and Eve experiencing death as both a process and an event. We also talk about why death is the ultimate villain in the Bible, and why the enemy sought to leverage death against Adam and Eve. It cuts their developmental process short, limiting our ability to reach the fullness of who God created us to be. 

Genesis 2:16-17

"In the day" used to designate a time period longer than a day - Genesis 2:4. Also see Jeremiah 7:21-23 and compare with Exodus 19:1-6. Jeremiah says that God spoke the words "Obey my voice" to Israel "in the day" that he brought them out of the land of Egypt. Yet according to Exodus 19:1-6, God says this to Israel 3 months after the actual day that they left Egypt. "In the day" is somewhat of an idiom - a phrase that communicates more or less than the literal words, by themselves, actually communicate. For example, "that took forever" or "give me a minute..."
