1968 Blackflower Drive

I love this podcast! It’s so weird, but delightful. I don’t want to spoil anything, and I have my theories about “what’s really going on”, but in brief it’s a kind of murder mystery centered around a unique house, and involving a wide cast of characters. I do have a few quibbles, but they’re just quibbles right now. The narrator has a great character voice — but it’s a ‘character’ voice, there’s a reason narrators tend to be very neutral. It can wear, otherwise. The recording quality for some of the actors is uneven. The writing is structured as a screenplay and not a radio play, so there is a lot of redundancy (you don’t need to tell us that someone’s crying when we can hear them crying, ‘show don’t tell’). But it’s a lot of fun, with a really interesting central mystery. The actors are great and I find myself eagerly awaiting each episode!

If you don’t mind sitting back and letting a show take you on a ride, tune in to this one. Humor, murder, paranormal investigators…what more could you ask for?

I spent more time laughing at the comedic writing. Yes, the very end of the episode is “out there”, but wouldn’t be a series without a cliff hanger. “ Give it a listen and share wildly.
