Collider Ladies Night - Anna Camp on More Pitch Perfect, The Office and Her New Netflix Films

Collider Ladies Night - Anna Camp on More Pitch Perfect, The Office and Her New Netflix Films

Ladies Night with Anna Camp (The Lovebirds, Pitch Perfect, Perfect Harmony, True Blood)
It wasn’t until I started prepping for this episode of Collider Ladies Night that I fully realized how much Anna Camp has accomplished over the years and how much she’s contributed to a number of iconic franchises. I have a feeling I’m not alone with this, but I first took note of her work after catching her as Sarah Newlin on True Blood, but in addition to that unforgettable HBO series, Camp has also appeared on The Office, Mad Men, The Good Wife, and then some. And even when it comes to short-lived shows that didn’t get the love they deserved, like let’s say Amazon’s Good Girls Revolt, Camp still delivered material that made a long-lasting impression, with fans still spreading love for the series long after it ended.
All of this and we haven’t even mentioned Camp’s work on the big screen yet! Of course the Pitch Perfect franchise made an indelible impression on many, but Camp is currently in the midst of quite the string of new release including two Netflix movies and another feature film that’s bound to show off significant range for the star who’s become extremely well known for her comedy chops, playing big personalities, and also nailing accents.
Clearly there’s a lot to cover here so get ready for a very fully episode of Collider Ladies Night! Camp explained why she once thought she’d just stick to the New York theater scene and how her first pilot season changed that dramatically, she recalled her experience auditioning for Mad Men and True Blood, and whether or not there’s interest in making more Pitch Perfect films. On top of that, get ready to hear all about Camp’s new movies including The Lovebirds which you can watch right now on Netflix, Here Awhile which is set to hit VOD on June 9th, and Desperados which is schedule to drop on Netflix on July 3rd.

Collider Ladies Night - Malin Akerman on To the Stars, Watchmen, and the Joys of Tom Cruise

Collider Ladies Night - Malin Akerman on To the Stars, Watchmen, and the Joys of Tom Cruise

If you caught the clip we recently shared from this episode of Collider Ladies Night, you know that it took Malin Akerman some time to start carving her own path in the industry. She said, “I was truly a follower,” and that she took whatever came her way. But now she's using that past experience to take hold of career, to take projects that speak to her creatively and also to change Hollywood for the better. And that right there makes her the perfect guest for Collider Ladies Night.
Akerman's resume includes a little bit of everything from comedies like The Heartbreak Kid and Couples Retreat to big budget studio films like Watchmen, acclaimed shows like Billions, and so much more. The latest to join that growing list? To the Stars, a coming-of-age drama that takes place in 1960s Oklahoma. It stars Kara Hayward as Iris Deerborne, a school outcast who finally makes a friend when Liana Liberato's Maggie Richmond moves to town. At first, it's a dream come true; Maggie showers Iris in nothing but love and support while trying to play catch-up on all the school fun Iris missed out on. The closer they grow, the more they realize how much they really do need each other to break through external pressures and embrace who they really are.
Akerman's work on To the Stars playing Maggie's mother may be all wrapped up now that the movie is available to watch On Demand, but that certainly doesn't mean things are slowing down for Akerman whatsoever. She's got two other films cooking, and she's not just acting in them; she's producing them as well! Akerman is making the move behind the lens for Nicol Paone's feature directorial debut, Friendsgiving, and she's also getting her hands dirty in Chick Fight, which Akerman described as Bridesmaids meets Fight Club.
Want to take a walk down memory lane with Akerman and hear all about her journey from wanting to be a child psychologist to her first acting gigs, the lessons learned from working on Watchmen, her future goals, and so much more? We've got you covered with this new episode of Collider Ladies Night!

Into the Dark: Crawlers Interview - Director Brandon Zuck

Into the Dark: Crawlers Interview - Director Brandon Zuck

Having graduated from film school with director Brandon Zuck, it was the ultimate treat to have him in the Collider studio to talk about his experience working with the Into the Dark team on their March installment, Crawlers. We've got a little bit of everything for you in this video interview! We discussed the common debate of whether or not it's worth attending film school, where Zuck's love of horror came from, what it was like jumping onto the movie train that is an Into the Dark installment, and so much more. Zuck is truly a wonderful individual with a strong voice and electric style but I have to admit, my favorite part of our chat might be his Liam Neeson drinking game.

Elisabeth Moss Talks Invisible Man, Horror and More on Collider Ladies Night

Elisabeth Moss Talks Invisible Man, Horror and More on Collider Ladies Night

Elisabeth Moss is on another level. Perhaps this is old news after projects like Mad Men, Top of the Lake and Handmaid’s Tale, just to name a few, but I recently got a double dose of Moss watching her in Shirley and then The Invisible Man soon after, so I was floored by her talent all over again. She’s an absolute powerhouse in Shirley as Shirley Jackson which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and scored distribution via Neon, but right now the spotlight is on The Invisible Man which hits theaters nationwide on February 28th.

Moss leads the film as Cecilia, a woman caught in an abusive relationship with wealthy scientist Adrian Griffin (Oliver Jackson-Cohen). She manages to escape with her life, but Adrian has left her with some severe emotional scars. When she learns Adrian opted to take his own life, some of the weight lifts but soon after, Cecilia grows suspicious of whether or not Adrian is really gone and becomes convinced that he’s found a way to make himself invisible and continue to torment her.

Collider Ladies Night is all about putting the spotlight on some of the best of the best, covering how they found their place in the industry and how they’re changing it for the better so Moss was an obvious pick for the show. During our conversation, she spoke about making the pivot from dance to acting, what experience shaped her the most as an actor, her cats who actually have their own IMDb pages, and so much more!
