Worth your time.

I have been listening to this pod cast since close to its inception, and it has undergone some changes, and evolutions, but like fine wine it only gets better with time. This review comes extremely late due to the fact that my iTunes broke some time back, and I have only recently gotten around to fixing it. The advantage though, is that I have been listening to the podcast for months.

The format is usually three co-hosts, and in its later iterations has consisted of dominant appearances by Zubrin, and/or Pentachills being on the show with one other well know community member. These range from regulars who rotate in and out of the show, semi regulars who pop in frequently and special guests.

No voice in the last several months (or ever that I can remember) has been anything short of a strong community member, and a talented player. Some of the members specialize in constructed others in limited, and are often good at both. Penta's exuberance for PVE, which is of course still mostly pending at this time, grants insight and develops anticipation for that side of the game, giving both sides some play.

They usually go over community news, a few worthy topics that come to mind, and draft a pack, as limited is always going no matter what. However whenever concentrated efforts such as the cups (A tournament series presented by fiveshards) which are now always in rotation, and the newly formed IQ tournaments (that lead to a $40,000 top prize) are going on they make sure to include segments that include these things as well.

All together this means they talk about PVE and PVP, constructed and limited and try to give them all their due, as each are important to the community. It is obvious that PVE gets a little less attention if only because less information is available, but the moment a morsel comes about, it is always brought up and touched upon. So even if you focus on the PVE aspect of the game, this podcast is something to check out now and then, and when the release date is spoiled you will want to tune in, because i assure you they are going to be talking about it with the same care and attention they do all their topics.

Pushing aside just how absurdly informative this pod cast can be for both competitive players, and casual hex enthusiasts. Lets talk a little about the entertainment aspect of the show. Informative pod casts are great, but without some form of entertainment it's hard to hold and audience's attention.

Many of the hosts are streamers, or shout casters, that have a ton of knowledge and insight to lend to its listeners, but are also entertaining as well. Their ability to poke fun at them selves, hex and each other in a light hearted manner is conducive to making the over all product much more enjoyable then just a droning on of information you may not have time to read about. It also speaks to the veracity of how they speak, and lets us know that if they disagree with something that hex does, they will say so.

Lastly the addition of the super talented Elysian as their sound engineer, has not only led to making the product sound as professional and playful as their hosts. Not only is the sound usually of high quality, but he goes the extra mile putting in bonus sound effects and out takes that push the podcast even further in terms of entertainment. If i could get a ring tone of the mortal combat piece they did, i would buy that off of iTunes. I don't actually know if iTunes does ring tones, but i would do it anyway. ;)

If you haven't tried this pod cast, and you have any interest in Hex Shards of Fate, I don't just recommend this product, I encourage you to try it at least once. Of the three pod casts about hex i have tried to listen to, I find I have had to cut down to one, because of my schedule. This is the only one I listen to anymore, because this one is always worth my time.
