Episode 81: Aaron Stephens RADIO - Hard Times Straight Lines

Episode 81: Aaron Stephens RADIO - Hard Times Straight Lines

Episode 81: Aaron Stephens - Hard Times, Straight Lines RADIO Thanks for tuning in to 210 Local Media podcast, I am your host, Mario Zamarron. I’ve been holding on to this album for a while and finally decided it was time to put this out. With all of the plans I had made for episodes prior to this, I hadn’t gotten to this RADIO episode. So, without further ado, this is Aaron Stephens, a transplant from Illinois and most recently, from McAllen and now New Braunfels, our northern neighbor. Aaron’s really got a soulful record here, so if you’re into listening to music in the dark, with your eyes closed, do it. If you’re in your car, you have an excuse to listen to the episode twice. Just let the music take you through your own memories and feel the words. Just a suggestion in this world of hustle and bustle and no time to experience music on the same levels we did when we were kids. Aaron Stephens is a soul singer/songwriter and musician born in Illinois, raised deep down in McAllen, Texas. Writing songs, singing, and playing guitar since the age of 12, Stephens has an original songwriting and performing style that can both soothe and stir. Since 2012, Stephens has been playing shows all across Texas. With his soulful voice, songwriting, and tasteful slide guitar playing, Aaron Stephens and his tight, groove-based band are standing out and  gaining some momentum. On June 18, 2014, Aaron Stephens released his first full-length album entitled "Hard Times Straight Lines". The 9-song album is a perfect example of Aaron Stephens' music: honest, relatable and soulful. The album is available on all major online platforms. Visit www.aaronstephensmusic.com for more info! Episode 80: #LMW2016 Musician's Roundtable

    Episode 80: #LMW2016 Musician's Roundtable

Episode 80: #LMW2016 Musician's Roundtable Thanks for tuning in to 210 Local Media podcast, I am your host, Mario Zamarron. This is how we wanted to kick off Local Music Week; at 502 Bar, doing our first live podcast! Our speakers for the event were Daniel Magallanez (Blackbird Sing), Patric Farrell (Built For The Future), and Edward Welsh (Rumors) and our sound guy for the show was Joey Devine from 502 Bar. The point of the show was to start a discussion, shed some light on local music, and get some attention for local music. We discussed each individuals trials, tribulations, and celebrations they’ve had as local musicians, what some of their experiences have been, and what they think about the situation. We talk about cover prices, the cost of being a musician, venue location, venue sound, the concert goers, and the talent of the band. We also took some time to acknowledge the organizations in San Antonio that are available to local musicians; The Local 782, M.U.S.I.C. Project, San Antonio Local Music Guild, San Antonio Sound Garden, and others who help like Do210, The Owlcast, Vinyl Pizza, Texas Music Spotlight, and 210 Local Media. This is just the first of a series of discussions we plan on having as we work towards our mission of helping the local music scene thrive. We hope you join us on this voyage and invite you to also check out the resulting videos on our YouTube channel, at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC37uudJJ3iTcEnXISjXKSbA I could go on for a very long time about this topic, so if you liked it, please let us know on our Facebook page /210LocalMedia or on Twitter  @210LocalMedia. Episode 79: The Akuzma

    Episode 79: The Akuzma

Episode 79: The Akuzma Thanks for tuning in to 210 Local Media podcast, I am your host, Mario Zamarron. In this episode, I sat down with the band I manage, The Akuzma, to talk about who they are, how they got to where they are, and all things Akuzma. The interview is from a while back, when we were planning to release their upcoming EP under the 210 banner. Unfortunately, we’ve had difficulties raising the necessary funds to put it out ourselves. Also, the band has undergone and is continuing to undergo changes to style and lineup. This in an introduction to what got the Akuzma to where they are today and a springboard to the foundation of the band. Once The Akuzma 3.0 emerges, we will definitely catch up with them. Episode 77: Fair Coyote - Paths

Episode 77: Fair Coyote - PathsThanks for tuning in to 210 Local Media podcast, I am your host, Mario Zamarron. This episode is for my buddy Mauricio Vasquez, AKA Fair Coyote. We mentioned in Episode 48, during the Local Music Week episodes, that he was working on his new EP Paths. Well, this is that EP. Recently, Mauricio played with Femina-X, Crown, and Levees for Levees’ EP release in January, and really showcased his love for having a varied soundscape and skills as a mutli-instrumentalist. He can be seen at various shows around town and can be found at Facebook.com/faircoyotemusic. Be sue to keep up with him, as he’s already working on another full length album and collaborating with other musicians to bring you another look into what Fair Coyote is really about.Intro100 YearsPathsHome AgainVisitorVision OfThe Meadow Thanks for listening!I could go on for a very long time about this topic, so if you liked it, please let us know on our Facebook page /210LocalMedia or on Twitter  @210LocalMedia. Episode 76 Terror Expo 2016 - It’s A Guy Thing Podcast TakeoverThanks for tuning in to 210 Local Media Podcast, I am your host, Mario Zamarron. This episode is long overdue for a few reasons; season 3 started in January, The Terror Expo was in January, and this episode is a takeover from my other podcast, It’s a Guy Thing Podcast. First of all, fair warning; there’s no music in this episode, there’s three guys who sound like morons, and hopefully you enjoy it.The guys take a brief walk on the floor of the 2016 Terror Expo and get a surprise guest drop in from a famous and former Walking Dead cast member Jose Cantillo - Walking Dead, Chappie, Elysium, Sons of Anarchy, Crank, Crank: High Voltage, Disturbia, and The Manchurian Candidate.I could go on for a very long time about this topic, so if you liked it, please let us know on our Facebook page /210LocalMedia or on Twitter  @210LocalMedia. Supporting what San Antonio does best, music!

Loving the show, loving what it's doing for the music scene. Tons of variety in episodes and huge backlog of great artists from my hometown. The dive into full albums and such gives listeners first hand what it is to experience an artist if they've never heard of them. The Roundtable was great, was in attendance in person and I'm really looking forward to how far this segment can go. Clean audio, brilliantly done, can't wait to see what other ideas this podcast has up its sleeve!

Local Music

I love that these podcast show behind the scene aspects and how hard local musicians struggle to get their music heard. SA has a lot of talent glad 210 can showcase it and care about local music.

The Cinderleaf is awesome!

What I love about these podcast is that Mario covers a lot of local bands. I haven’t heard of a lot of these and they are all soooo good. It’s a shame how much good talent in this city goes unnoticed. Thanks Mario for reviewing these bands and their music!
