27: Shrunken Shakespeare's Yvonne Cone and Jennifer Martina hurryupandwait

    • Performing Arts

This week KC and Ethan are thrilled to welcome two driving forces behind New York’s Shrunken Shakespeare Company, Yvonne Cone and Jennifer Martina.  Shrunken Shakespeare is committed to producing “condensed, unconventional Shakespeare made accessible through multiple performance art genres.”  Past works include “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at a hipster circus, “Two Gentlemen of Verona” at an upper west side lounge, and a gala production of King Lear directed by and starring the great Paul Sorvino (Goodfellas, Law and Order).  Yvonne and Jennifer chat about starting the company, collaborating with a Hollywood legend, and producing their unique brand of site-specific work.

Shrunken Shakespeare recently performed with the Pulp Variety Streamcast in “Kill Shakespeare The Series Live!” a live radio stage show performed at the Kraine Theatre.  Audio of the full show will be available on iTunes, but you can find more about Kill Shakespeare! (based on the comic book series created by Anthony Del Col & Conor McCreery) at Pulp Variety’s Website: www.pulpvarietystreamcast.com.

Find Shrunken Shakespeare on twitter @ShrunkenShkspr, and on facebook at facebook.com/ShrunkenShakespeareCompany, and on their website, www.shrunkenshakespeare.com.

It’s the second week of “Get Off Your Ass and See Something!”  See “The Few” through June 8th at Rattlestick Playwright’s Theater (tickets at www.rattlestick.org) and “The Admission” through May 18th at DC’s Studio Theatre (tickets at http://theadmission.bpt.me).
