Free to read the Bible without preconceptions and open to the Spirit

As an ex charismatic/evangelical, coming out of huge upheaval that caused me to re-examine what I have been taught in the past and believed to be true, I've struggled for about the past four years to read the Bible (or any other book devotionally)...hardly been able to do it because I kept being triggered by harm that came to me from 40 years of authoritarian teaching. This has brought me a lot of sadness and caused me to feel adrift, as I used to have an intimate personal devotional life with the Spirit's comfort and direction. Listening to Keith's podcasts and also reading his book Sola Mysterium have been eye opening, healing, and freeing me to return to a simple trust of the Spirit of God speaking to me in general, including as I read the Bible. This is monumental as I've been able to enjoy and be excited once again about my devotional life, open to receive insights even more freely from the Spirit. Thank you, Keith!

Questions answered

Keith Giles podcast seems to be confirming so many things that I think about and don’t dare say out loud in an evangelical setting. This podcast goes past all the basic stuff we question. So refreshing to see ex pastors giving themselves permission to just follow the truth wherever it leads.

We Are Gods

You really nailed it. I was not raised in the church and was blessed to hear this very teaching at the age of 30 when I became a follower of Jesus. It made sense then and it resonates as truth 40 years later. The church folks tried to orient me into sin management but those verses kept sidling up to me; I no longer live but Christ lives-inhabits in me. All things have passed away and all things have become new…The term born from above has been trivialized and become part of the evangelical grab bag of trite phrases. Yes and amen to you when you state there is NO separation between us and God. Teach on brother!
