We are joined today by Dr. Heidi Kay Begay of Flute 360 to discuss what it's like being a musician in the 2000s. COVID-19 and modern culture have forced musicians to either adapt and succeed or stay stagnant and struggle. In a world still struggling with a pandemic, colleges/universities being slow to adapt, and jobs in academia and symphonies are few and far between, how does the average classical musician survive? We discuss what led us all to podcasting, our perspectives on where we were led astray, and how to do better for future generations of musicians. Also, Catherine does manage to sneak a reference to High School Musical that is surprisingly relevant.
Thank you again to our sponsor, the Ultimate Music Business Summit (UMBS). UMBS is a virtual, two day summit designed for and by musician entrepreneurs to help musicians grow in their business skills. This is taking place in January 2022 and is open to everyone.
