A Review of the SAC (Standardized Assessment of Concussion) — Brain Injury Awareness Month

We are back to finish out Brain Injury Awareness Month looking at another component of the SCAT6. Today we are going to tackle what I consider to be the “OG” version of the SCAT, otherwise known as the SAC, or the Standardized Assessment of Concussion. We certainly love acronyms in sports medicine, don’t we? Let’s take the deep dive.

Hang ‘Em High (1968) – A Perspective Review

Hang ‘Em High (1968) – A Perspective Review

In 1968, an already 38-year-old Clint Eastwood was made a producer of a movie that was going to be the "bridge" back to the states when it came to the Spaghetti Westerns and Hollywood's at-all interest in the modern Western Feature film.

A number of years later, a young 8 year old Canadian kid dreamt of becoming a lawman. Later, he did, and at the center of that grand vision was the aforementioned bridge feature film. It's title is Hang 'Em High - 1968, directed by Ted Post, starring Clint Eastwood and a robust cast of Hollywood talent that is likely almost as long as this podcast.

The sun is high on the horizon and the time to Hang 'Em High, with the help of a podcast host and four life-long lawmen hailing from a variety of parts of North America. This is the WhatCopsWatch Perspective Review of 1968's Hang 'Em High.

A Review of The Maddocks Questions — Brain Injury Awareness Month

A Review of The Maddocks Questions — Brain Injury Awareness Month

March means two things in the world of sports medicine, not counting March Madness. The first is National Athletic Training Month. The second is Brain Injury Awareness Month. In the world of sport-related concussions, it’s an ideal time to continue to bring awareness about concussions, which are a mild traumatic brain injury.

I thought for this year, I’d try to go through the SCAT, or the Sport Concussion Assessment Tool and talk about what we know from an evidence-based standpoint how each of the components function. Today we are going to tackle the Maddocks questions. It’s time to buckle up as we dive into the SCAT.

Stupid Things Old Cops Told Me

One of the best instructors a cop can have, is history. The stories, guidance and perspective it provides helps to hone the craft of today's law enforcement professionals -- most of the time. It's time to take a look back at real-life things that were shared with Officer Tommy, as he shares "Stupid Things Old Cops Told Me" -  during this episode of The Free Field Training Podcast.
