2nd Annual Spookies: Our Nominees Are…?

It’s a shame that the horror genre gets overlooked when it comes to receiving praise. Sure, now and then a film will come along and get attention, but because it’s more art piece than freak show, the actual horror aspects are ignored and replaced with the word “thriller” or “suspense.”

Bottom line is horror movies do not get the respect they deserve. That’s why we have taken on the responsibility of shining a light on the best of the best regarding the horror films of 2019. It’s time for the 2nd Annual 2GuysTalkingHorror Spookies – And The Nominees Are?

    Surviving In A Covid-19 World!

    Surviving In A Covid-19 World!

Horror and Science Fiction, when done right, can depict some bone chilling scenarios. Take the fears of a person, a community or even a species and add the words What If…well, that’s just the perfect recipe for pure terror.

A beloved subgenre of horror and sci-fi is the Outbreak/Viral/End Of The World story. And while here in reality it’s not the end times, it does feel like a truly grim tale that has changed the world as we know it. What’s the best defense on combating the growing fear of isolation? Sharing our experiences Surviving In A Covid-19 World with 2GuysTalkingHorror!

A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) – A Perspective Review

A Nightmare On Elm Street (1984) – A Perspective Review

The act of dreaming is an important part of our sleeping habits. Dreams are thought of as the brain’s way of helping us decompress from the days trials and tribulations. But not all sleep is restful. Sometimes dreams have a nasty habit of going bad. Transforming into nightmares.

If dreams are just movies in our mind, made from a patchwork of memories and feelings swirling in our subconscious, then nightmares are just mental horror films created from life’s stresses, with a heaping helping of fear and anger mixed in. Sure, they may be awful at the time, but once we wake up, the terror is over. That is IF we wake up.

For a generation of horror movie goers, nightmares had a burnt face, a dirty red and green sweater and a gloved hand with four razor sharp blades. Brew a pot of coffee, grab a bottle of No-Doze and whatever you do, DON’T FALL ASLEEP as 2GuysTalkingHorror brings you the Perspective Review of 1984’s A Nightmare On Elm Street!

Cut The Crap Movie Review – IT Chapter 2

Cut The Crap Movie Review – IT Chapter 2

A film adaptation of a book, especially one that’s over a thousand pages, is hard to pull off. Fans of the source material want to see the story unfold like it did when they were reading the book, but most of the time what they end up with is just a watered down facsimile. There will always be a need for changes when transferring a story from one medium to another. But how many changes have to be made before the film goes from adaptation to reimagining? Those are some of the questions we’ll address as we return to the town of Derry, Main for this Cut The Crap Movie Review Of IT: Chapter 2!

Lethal Listings: The Kids Are NOT Alright – 7 Horror Films That Did The Unthinkable

Lethal Listings: The Kids Are NOT Alright – 7 Horror Films That Did The Unthinkable

Behind the scenes, there are a few rules filmmakers have to follow to appease the studio execs and censors. Some are as silly as the number of curse words used by a main character, while others are as arbitrary as how much side boob is considered nudity. These rules are put in place to protect movie audiences, despite the genre, and the biggest rules on the list are no killing animals and no killing children.

In horror movies the sometimes senseless death of characters is to be expected. One of the high points for most horror fans is the comfort in knowing that there will be murder and mayhem during the film that they’re watching. That being said, the death of an animal or a child is still jarring, weather it happens on or off camera. What’s most important is if that death moved the story along or was just there for shock value?

During this episode of Lethal Listings, we’ll be leaving the lovable pets alone as we focus on children in the horror genre and firmly state The Kids Are NOT Alright: 7 Horror Films That Did The Unthinkable!
