3SYO #78: The Cubs Are Wiser with Adam Mamawala LGBTQ Sports Podcast
-
- Sexuality
This was looking to be a rough week for the Chicago Cubs with seven games on the west coast against teams with the two best records in the league. But they weathered the storm and held their own thanks to discovering baseball's newest market inefficiency...
Wisdom.
Patrick Wisdom, to be precise. Today, I'm joined by friend of the pod Adam Mamawala for a crossover episode with the Away Games Podcast and we're talking about the kind of Wisdom that has lifted the Cubs through their most difficult stretch. Specifically: if you hit eight home runs in your first 15 games, you are very wise.
We also break down Anthony Rizzo holding steady through a home run drought and still putting up very good production, Kris Bryant remembering that he's one of the best damn players in MLB, and Javy Báez being a genius even on days when he doesn't get a hit. I'm gonna go out on a limb here and say it might be a good idea to lock up one or three of these guys to a long term deal and pay them what they're worth. Which is why I don't own the Cubs. Sigh.
Stick around to the end as we also reflect on the Giants taking the field against the Cubs in rainbow Pride caps! It was a sensational look and a genuinely significant moment for LGBTQ representation on the field in MLB.
