She researches Black women's intellectual history, focusing on memoirs and mental health.

Dr. Evans is also Curator of Black Women’s Studies Booklist, a Digital Humanities Web Resource. She is the Editor of Black Women’s Wellness Book Series at SUNY Press. In this podcast, Dr. Evans discusses “Africana Studies and Institutional Wellness.”
