4/7/24 - Dr. Amra Sabic-El-Rayess Inspirational Women

    • Documentary

Dr. Amra Sabic-El-Rayess grew up in Bosnia and Herzegovina, experiencing the ethnic genocide in those countries firsthand from 1992-95. She was able to immigrate to the US, attend university and is a professor at Columbia University, studying how and why societies can dismantle and what role education can play in the rebuilds. Dr. Amra is the author of "The Cat I Never Named," with her latest book - "Three Summers: A Memoir of Sisterhood, Summer Crushes, and Growing Up on the Eve of the Bosnian Genocide" - just released. While written for young adults, the book can be, and certainly is, an essential read for all ages, leading us to consider and discuss understanding, compassion, and generally practicing humanity in each of our lives.
