  SHOWNOTES: Why your values are so important [01:50] Your values serve as the building blocks of the foundation of your life. Everything flows from your values. When your foundation is solid, life doesn’t feel so hard and overwhelming. Your values will guide you through your priorities from day to day.  Values in Action [06:48] Knowing your values allows you to focus on doing things that add to the core of your personal life’s mission. Two examples that I recall from knowing my values: one, I recently turned down an awesome coaching opportunity. Not because there was anything wrong with the group I would have worked with, but my values told me my integrity, my family, my fun matter more than adding something else onto my plate, right now. Secondly, years ago, after having my first baby and coming back to the office from maternity leave, I struggled! My family was important to me, but everything about being in the office and the world of law didn’t quite align with my values and the new phase of life I was stepping into. Values give you life parameters. They are the guardrails for when you’re trying to make a strike in your lane. Identify your values through your priorities [11:39] Identifying your values is going to start with you having a journal! Get one, you’ll want to take inventory of how you change over time. When we think about our top priorities, let’s frame them in these categories: Career Health Finance Relationships Spiritual With these categories in mind, answer this: if you could not fail, what would you want? What does a 10 out of 10 in each of these categories look and feel like? It’s time to get intentional about what you want and identify those core values associated with your vision.
