    • Marketing

Today, we’re going to be sharing 4 TikTok Tips for beginners. If you’re looking to get started on TikTok, this podcast episode is for you!

What is TikTok?
TikTok is a short-form video sharing social media platform.
It’s been around for years and actually launched in 2016 by Beijing-based parent company called Bytedance. In 2017, ByteDance was acquired by Musical.ly, and it took off in Europe and North America. In 2021, the company is projected to hit a billion users.

Tip #1: Get familiar with the app
One of the biggest things when bringing on a new platform is figuring out how the platform works. Before you dive in and start learning trending dances, we recommend getting familiar with the app. The more comfortable you become navigating the app, the easier it will be to start focusing on producing content on the app.
Be aware that there is a learning curve to learning any new platform. At one point, you probably had to figure out how to add hashtags or create Instagram stories on Instagram.

Here are a few major things to familiarize yourself with TikTok:
The For You Page:
Is usually the first thing you see when you open the app. You’ll see trending videos in your feed, and you’ll see “For You” at the Top of the page.
FYP or For You Page basis its algorithm based on the videos you interact with and the accounts you follow. It also factors in your location and language preferences, plus your niche and the types of content you create.
 The Discover Page:
Is like the Explore Page on Instagram. It’s curated by TikTok’s algorithm which shows trends, trending sounds or music, and trending/popular effects.
