History of California Podcast

I’ve listened to this show for years. I haven’t found another podcast on California history that is anywhere near as good, interesting and accessible. So far as I can tell, he does not have an agenda (political, economic, social), he does not avoid controversial issues and problems, but he doesn’t seek them out either. Very interesting and a fun way to learn about California history.

I live in Eagle Rock Ca and I am a detectorist. I love to research new, old places in California to dig up history. Jordan provides me with some great information. Love listening to History of California podcast. Keep up the great work.

Love the local history of CA! We have such a diverse state, inevitably, comparisons are natural but when a historian in recent interview is asked if LA is center of CA and supports it with LA and LB ports feed warm weather trains, has he not know about tunnels over Donner pass? Snow doesn’t stop northern traffic! I’d like to see more Northrn CA topics.

I have been listening to the podcast since the beginning. And while I hate to use the term woke it is literally like watching someone “get woke” in real time. In the beginning, Jordan seem to really be wrestling with bringing the listener the complexities of history. Now he is just interjects his modern liberal points of view into every single conversation. At the end of the day, there isn’t another podcast on California history and sometimes guest do push back against his opinions. So I will keep listening to some episodes and hope that he’s not making too much money off of it.
