5-Minute Relaxation Exercise with Stephanie Love the heart space @ GreenHouse17

    • Mental Health

Thank you for showing up for yourself. This 5-minute guided relaxation video is an offering to support you as you reembody your physical self as you continue on your healing journey. As we heal trauma it is very common that we will detach and dissociate from our physical body as a learned defense mechanism. Tending to our relationship with out physical self is one of the foundational steps toward healing trauma.

The heart space is a digital archive of trauma-sensitive resources dedicated to serving those who are healing from abuse. Rooted in mind-body connection, the intention of this archive is to serve as a tool for survivors to reembody their mental, emotional, and physical body. Our approach is grounded in deepening our understanding of both our self and our connection to the natural world. We are honored to continue holding space for the incredibly courageous survivors we serve who continue to show up for themselves to heal and flourish in a life free of violence.

Stephanie Love has been with GreenHouse17 since 2006, where she worked as a Residential Advocate for almost 8 years before going into Outreach. During her time with the agency she has introduced yoga and relaxation groups to further support survivors to heal from abuse. Stephanie has a Master's of Science in Counseling Psychology and is a Certified Yoga Teacher (CYT). She continues to study trauma and its effect on the whole person, the healing powers of mindfulness and yoga, and is proud to be an eternal student of life.

The heart space is an initiative of GreenHouse17. GreenHouse17 supports victims of intimate partner violence as they establish safety, heal from trauma, and rebuild their lives as survivors. Here at GreenHouse17 survivors have the opportunity to be out in the fresh air on a beautiful 40-acre farm, growing flowers and fruits, vegetables and herbs while growing strong in body and mind. Eating food fresh from the garden improves physical health after abuse, and all adults who live in our shelter may choose to work on the farm in exchange for a small stipend and workplace training. We also offer other out-of-the-box activities like yoga and journaling to stretch and develop body and mind.
