At some point in childhood, we have all experienced traumas such as abuse and neglect that led to the development of a painfully raw part within us known as the Wounded Child.
We carry and often bury and deny the existence of this vulnerable part to cope with the demands of day-to-day life. But in doing so, we reject the reality of our pain and the wisdom that this injured part of us has to share.
While the Wounded Child is often at the root of our dysfunctional relationships, self-esteem issues, and addictive tendencies, it also carries deep gifts for us. Some of these gifts include the ability to become a ‘wounded healer’ who has developed the ability to heal personal wounds in order to share that gift with others, to be able to forgive, show compassion to others
