#56 - Disney+’s Moon Knight | Helmed by Jeremy Slater and Mohamed Diab (with Guy Bradford‪)‬ 2 Cents Critic

    • TV & Film

Tune in as comedian Guy Bradford returns to the show for a conversation about Moon Knight, the six-episode Marvel Cinematic Universe series that ran on Disney+ from March 30th to May 4th. As part of Phase 4 of the MCU, it adopts quite the dark, almost psychological thriller-esque mood in comparison to the rest of the franchise. Considering its mild-mannered museum gift shop employee lead Steven Grant (Oscar Isaac) becomes increasingly uncertain as to the boundary between his reality and his imagination, then gets caught up in his dissociative identity disorder (DID) and the vengeful zeal of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu, the tonal shift makes complete sense. On top of breaking down the show, the hosts also chat about The Umbrella Academy, the horror trope of motion-sensing lights, and the MCU’s usage of comedy.

Helmed by creator-head writer Jeremy Slater and director Mohamed Diab, Moon Knight stars Oscar Isaac, May Calamawy, Karim El Hakim, F. Murray Abraham, Ethan Hawke, David Ganly, Khalid Abdalla, Gaspard Ulliel, Antonia Salib, Fernanda Andrade, Rey Lucas, and Saba Mubarak.

Spoilers start at 15:00

Note: Arthur repeatedly calls the Duat, the Egyptian afterlife, “the Dust” in this episode. Sorry for the mix-up!
