|6| Strength in Numbers [Featuring Chad Black, NRP‪]‬ Medic Class Citizen

    • Medicine

In this episode, we discuss the benefits of membership in professional organizations for licensed EMS personnel. Join us as we welcome Georgia EMS Association Chair Chad Black, as we dive in to examples of benefits that every listener across the country should be seeking out in their individual states, provinces, territories and regions through affiliation in professional organizations. Chad also shares incredibly valuable experience from his years of leadership in various EMS agencies, as he worked his way from an EMT on the ambulance, to paramedic, to Battalion Chief and regional manager (air medical) to Director of Emergency Services. We discuss ways professional organizations provide benefits ranging from continuing education opportunities, leadership and development training, pensions and retirement, to political and legislative representation on Capitol Hill (Senate Bill 102, alongside our very own, Jason Grady).
We round out the episode by discussing Chad's involvement in working towards administering whole blood in the pre-hospital field throughout certain regions of Georgia, and the steps he and those involved had to take in order to get the pilot program approved and off the ground.
