Today’s midwife guest is Ariel Bernstein, of Saco River Midwifery. This is Ariel’s second time as a guest on the Podcast. She shared all about her journey to midwifery as well as her own birth stories in episode 12 of the podcast.
When I interviewed Ariel for episode 12 it was summer of last year and she was getting ready to start a year at Harvard to pursue her masters in public health. She is back today to share all about how her time at Harvard has been going so far, and also about her recent trip to Uganda where she was able to work with midwives there to help teach them how to do simulation training so they can continue to educate more midwives in their country.
During her visit Ariel was able to see firsthand the many hardships faced daily by the midwives and doctors there.
Ariel is currently on a mission to raise enough money to purchase dopplers, her goal is to purchase one for each facility that sent midwives to the training. She needs to raise $2,000 to make this happen.
If you have any interest in contributing, please message Ariel, you can find her on instagram @sacorivermidwifery or send an email to midwifeariel@gmail.com and of course.
Also if you are a home birth family and have supplies left over, or if you are a midwife and have extra supplies you don’t know what to do with, please reach out to Ariel - she is putting together some care packages for the midwives she worked with in Uganda.
Thank you again for tuning in and I look forward to bringing you more amazing birth stories. Don’t forget to subscribe and leave a review! And I’ll See you back here again, next week.
