Retirement Talk is an audio podcast intended to help people who are retired, or considering retirement, to examine their own lives. We will consider retirement in all its facets - not just financial. We want to examine our own lives and those of others, who seem to have looked closely, made choices, and are pretty happy with the consequences We want to encourage thought and action.

878 What Now
Years ago I came across some happiness advice that has never failed me. I liked it because it worked for me and I loved the name of the originator, Baruch de Espinosa: or, Spinoza. "Spinoza knowza", I used to tell my philosophy students.

877 Look Around
I knew that if I stayed there just a bit longer I would become the evening meal of some carnivore. Considering the absurdity of life I thought about it. Then I moved on. Hope is something else that is in our genes. All of our ancestors possessed that gene as well as the one that told them to look around.

876 As We Age
Health issues become more and more personal as we move into and through retirement. Our interest and attention become very relevant individually. They have a way of grabbing our attention.

875 The List
Retirement is a time when a list might be as important as ever. As we enter the latter stages of life our time becomes more important. That is why we have a tendency to slow down. We don't want to rush life.
-
874 Continue Dreaming
Maybe retirement is the time to become a magician. Or whatever else you dreamed of when you were a child. Or whatever you dream about now that you are retired. I'll bet with just a few years of practice most of us could learn to pull rabbits out of hats.

873 Pick A Fight
"Picking a Fight" is not something our parents told us was a good thing to do. Perhaps we need to rethink this advice. Retirement might be the perfect time to look around and pick a fight with some bully.

Wise Wisdom
Update- I’m 56 now and still listening- wow! Retired 2.5 years and enjoying every moment though it can be a challenge in a strange way.
I’m 53 and have been listening to this podcast about 3 years as I prepare for retirement. It is the one that I look forward to weekly. I even went back a binge listened to many of the episodes. It has been a reassuring refreshing comfort about many aspects of life and retirement. So unique among ALL the retirement podcasts- this is a gem. 😊 thanks so much and please keep posting!
Good podcast outside authors constant bizarre political commentary
I have enjoyed several of this authors podcasts except for the truly weird far left political comments he constantly injects into his topics. The podcaster is a Marxist who can’t help himself and keeps sabotaging his podcast with truly bizarre political commentary. If he left out his constant political nonsense this would have been an excellent podcast because otherwise he is pleasant to listen to and gives some great information and advice about retirement.
