The Smithereens were some of the early influences for the Grunge and Alt rock movement with hits like Blood & Roses, Only a Memory and A Girl Like you. Kurt Cobain listed them as one of his biggest inspirations and Dennis was a wealth of musical knowledge having worked with the likes of Ronnie Specter and Joey Ramone.
