Dr. Snuggles and friends return for episode 79 of your guide to the truly astonishing world of softcore films, and the world’s number one podcast on that subject!
We haven’t done a TV show for almost 12 months now, since we finished our run on Hot Springs Hotel, so it’s well past time we looked at that wild corner of the softcore landscape. From weirdo ‘90s comedy, this time we’re moving into the most contemporary thing we’ve ever done: the 2016, six episode BDSM drama series, Submission! We’re joined once again by the legendary Pinky for this dizzying mix of pleasure and pain. Submission is the softcore debut for writer, director and co-creator Jacky St. James, who is responsible for the phenomenally successful hardcore series The Submission of Emma Marx, which - much like this series - attempted to redefine BDSM fiction following that whole 50 Shades business. But will a bunch of people who have absolutely no experience or particular interest in BDSM submit to the show’s charms?
And, of course, we look into the life and career of Jacky St. James, one of the most important and successful female writer/directors in modern hardcore. Astonishingly, she got into the business when she won a script writing competition, which is cool, but also means she gets asked to retell the story every single time she’s interviewed, which seems like it would get tiring.
