#89: Do We Manufacture Addicts‪?‬ Therapy Brothers

    • Mental Health

Caller Question: "Does society manufacture Lust addicts through shame? i'm seeing more in myself and my fellows in SAL how damaging shame is to recovery. this mentality of "I'm a sexaholic, an addict" whilst i personally feel necessary in the start of recovery, is causing a lot of shame-train and relapse. I see shame still being this huge driving force that is impeding my growth (see my #2 question as an example of this). i'd love to discuss with you guys your thoughts on if Lust actually is the problem, or if it's this pressure that we have put on ourselves due to our morals, shame on not living them, and if there's a self-fulfilling cycle out there that society at large provides me that fuels this train. it makes me curious if there's a better method than the "I'm a sexaholic" deal
