How did 9/11 the day become 9/11 the idea? That question drives Pineapple Street Studios and award-winning host Dan Taberski (Missing Richard Simmons, Running From COPS, The Line) to shift the focus to what happened on 9/12, and every day after that. 9/12 is a poignant, surprising, and surprisingly funny seven episode series about people who wake up on 9/12 having to navigate a new, radically altered world. A teenager gets caught up in an out-of-control conspiracy theory that he helped start. A Pakistani business owner finds hundreds of his Brooklyn neighbors are disappearing. Joke-writers at The Onion must figure out just how soon is “too soon”? 9/12 asks what it all means. We know what happened on 9/11. But what happened on 9/12 to alter our memory and our perspective forever?
The series 9/12 earned three Podcast Academy Awards at the 2022 Ambies, including Podcast of the Year.

    This Strange Story

    This Strange Story

9/11 & Memory: Four planes hijacked. The Pentagon attacked. The collapse of the Twin Towers. Thousands dead. And you’re stranded in the middle of the ocean - with no TV, no radio, no news. What do you do when 9/11 happens and you can’t see it? And how do you make sense of the radically different world you must return to?

    Too Soon

    Too Soon

9/11 & Humor: When the staff of the satirical newspaper The Onion woke up on the morning after 9/12, they realized they had to do the impossible: write jokes about the news of the day. Can this group of comedians create something meaningful in the wake of tragedy or will they figure out just how soon is “too soon?”

Don’t Hate Me Because I’m Beautiful

Don’t Hate Me Because I’m Beautiful

9/11 & Freedom: In the fall of 2001, Mo Razvi was a Pakistani businessman in Brooklyn living the American dream. But in the aftermath of 9/11, when hundreds of his mostly Muslim neighbors disappear overnight, Mo would be forced to play a very different role in his community, one he never imagined.

    People Knew

    People Knew

9/11 & Conspiracy: When 20-year-old Dylan Avery released the documentary “Loose Change,” he got caught up in a world of out-of-control conspiracy theories that his movie helped create. Can a rollerblading New York City tour guide take him down? Who will win the fight of facts vs. feelings?

    A Failure of Imagination

    A Failure of Imagination

9/11 & Fear: In their final report, the 9/11 Commission declared that of all the mistakes the U.S. made prior to the terrorist attacks, the greatest was “a failure of imagination.” Which is why -- in a story that has never been told -- the Department of Defense and the CIA established an ongoing relationship with a secret brain trust of Hollywood’s most famous writers and directors to help prevent the next 9/11.

    Significance, Meaning, Purpose, Community

    Significance, Meaning, Purpose, Community

9/11 & Extremism: Jesse Morton, a dreadlocked American Deadhead, transforms into a radical jihadist and recruiter. Meanwhile, Amber Mathwig, a 20-year-old woman in Minnesota, enlists in the Navy, becoming a cog in the war machine. From Casablanca to Baghdad, from amphibious warships to prison cells, neither could predict the drastic turns that their beliefs would take.

This isn’t about the show but about a stupid review. He was criticizing the show which is his right. But then this fool goes on to say “I get it liberals hate America”
For most people I live outside New York City
I visited it as often as I can. I love New York when the towers were struck I could see the smoke from where I live. I remember the smell of downtown when I first went back and the thousands of photos of missing people hanging up still hoping against hope that there loved ones were still alive. And the dump trucks constantly driving by.
Just because I have a different opinion than you don’t assume I don’t love my country. On the morning of 9/12 It wasn’t republicans that cared. It was everyone.

Worth your time!

Fantastic story telling and very thought provoking. I learned a lot and was entertained.

The feels

I lived 30 miles from Manhattan on 9/11. My best friend lived in Manhattan at the time. My friend’s fiancé got out on the last ferry to Jersey City that day. I left NJ forever 2 weeks later and moved to LA. All that to say, 9/11 had a huge impact on my life but when I heard the captain in the first episode tell the sailors about what happened, a chill went through my spine similar to what I felt on that day and haven’t felt since, even on the 20 anniversaries since the event. I don’t know if it was the matter of fact way he said it or hearing it rather than seeing it or the weeping heard at the end of his speech but I had to sit down to avoid fainting the feeling was so profound. The rating is temporary until I can finish the series but I have to commend the producers for the introduction.
