This week on TRM, we are joined by the Founder of Step by Step Tours, Erica Romaniuk! Erica graduated with a mechanical engineering degree from Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly known as Ryerson) and was very grateful to find a job in her field post-grad. However, this job brought on lots of anxiety, feelings of isolation, and overall poor mental well-being. This forced her to reassess what she wanted to do with her life. Her identity was strongly tied to being a proud woman in STEM and it was very difficult to walk away from that. So, she decided to start going to therapy and took some time to do lots of honest self-reflection. Erica thought long and hard about what truly makes her happy, what she’s passionate about, and how she could combine these things with her professional life. And then, Step by Step Tours was born! Erica tells us all about what it was like to leave her job in engineering and take a chance on her new business.
