A Biblical and Psychological Perspective of Mental Health: God of the Broken (Part 1‪)‬ Unbecoming with Paula Salvosa

You’d think that after all God had done, Jezebel’s threat would have meant absolutely nothing to Elijah…but it did. He was wasted. The entire run had left Elijah emotionally spent, spiritually exhausted. He’d run as hard as he could, and he couldn’t run anymore. His life, work, ministry, effort, responsibilities, duties, deadlines and demands, had left him completely busted.

So this is how he responded: “Elijah was afraid and ran for his life… He came to a broom tree, sat down under it and prayed that he might die. ‘I have had enough, Lord,’ he said. ‘Take my life’…Then he lay down under the tree and fell asleep” (1 Kings 19:3-5).

So what did God do? How did God react to that moment?
