Get to know Jerry Mraz: He enjoyed a 38-year career in the Defense Department, serving for 22 years in uniform in the Army, beginning as a Private and retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel, followed by 16 years as a Department of Defense Civilian, and later Department of the Army Civilian. During his active duty service with the Army he was assigned to various locations around the world, including three combat tours of duty. Mr. Mraz served three command tours, culminating as a Base Support Battalion commander in Germany.

His first five years in Federal Civil Service began with The Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) in Washington DC. While with DIA, Mr. Mraz worked in operations and support for DIA’s global missions and activities. He moved to a position with the US Army Human Resources Command in 2009, and relocated with the command to Fort Knox, Kentucky. Mr. Mraz was assigned as the Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel and Logistics for the command, until his retirement in December 2018.

He is a graduate of Idaho State University (BA, Political Science and MPA), the Naval Postgraduate School (MA, National Security), and Norwich University (MA, American History). He and his wife LaAnna reside in Elizabethtown, Kentucky. They have four children, and six grandchildren…and two fur babies, Bella (a Bernese Mountain Dog) and Chole (a sweet rescue dog).
