Finding Your Course Idea Part 2 | Episode 72

Today's podcast episode is about coming up with your course idea. I absolutely love that you are considering creating an online course, it's only fun and a completely different experience compared to the therapy room.

Before you get started with your course, consider reflecting on the questions below. The questions will help to guide you in identifying the course idea or topic:

What are you good at?Who is your ideal client? What is your favorite clinical service to provide? What pain points do you address? What pain points do your clients seek support in?
If you get stuck with coming up with your course idea consider a typical counseling session. Take time to evaluate the following:

How does your client find their way to your office? When your client completes their intake documents what do they typically write for the section of presenting problem or reason for seeking therapy?

Lets Create Your Online Course Part 1 | Episode 71

Lets Create Your Online Course Part 1 | Episode 71

Are you ready to create your first online course?

I hope so. Here is the truth, it’s not nearly as challenging as you think it is. I sat on creating my online course for too long. The push came when my patients started to ask for more support outside of the session. I started to create courses as additional tools to give my clients so that they could continue the work outside of the session.
In the podcast episode, we talk about why one can create a course.

My encouragement is that you take time to focus on your why.
Why do you want to start an online course?Who do you want to support in your online course? What type of change do you hope to make with your online course?
    Ideas for online courses:
Anxiety course for adults that struggle with worry.A co-parenting course for couples that are separating and need help with navigating challenges in their lifeCouples course for couples that are struggling with intimacy. The course can focus on the direct area with a mixture of videos and helpful worksheets that provide tools to improve the relationship.

Keeping Up With Changes In Private Practice | Episode 70

Keeping Up With Changes In Private Practice | Episode 70

What are you doing to build your counseling practice as times are changing?
A therapy practice today is very different than practice 20 years ago. I want to share with you strategies that you can practice and implement to help you improve and level up your counseling private practice.
Start a blog. Yes, you already know this. Yet are you doing it? If you are, is it an effective blog? To level up your blog, take time to create superior content, link to high-ranking websites, use video to support your reader and infographics such as infographics.
Marketing today is completely different than it used to be. One of those key differences Is the funnel system. Do you have a funnel system for your counseling private practice?
Below is a simple 2 part funnel system that you can start practicing today:
Step 1. The call to action.
Create an Instagram ad with a picture of the product. On the ad, spend time writing a quick description of the product and why it will help your ideal client. Typically, this can be a few paragraphs long.
When creating the copy for your ad, take time to:
Utilize bullet points.Focus on speaking to your ideal client.Have a consistent fontHave spacing in your words and line to make it easier to read. This ad should have a button on it so that when your ideal client clicks on it, they are taken to step 2. The sales page.
    Step 2. The sales page.
I like to treat the sales page as if It were two people hanging out with a potential buyer and sharing details of the product. The sales page can also be known as the key landing page that you want the user to be on when making certain decisions. Such as purchasing a course or registering for a counseling session.
The landing page is where the person goes after the click on the Facebook ad. The landing page should be detailed and include some of the below key points: credibility focused on your expertise, how counseling can help, a call to action such as a schedule button, and other key points that can help the person make the decision to schedule a counseling session with you.
Below are key points to include on your sales page:
A detailed description of the product.Pictures of the product. If possible, a video sharing the product so that the buyer can have an inside look.

Awesome Ways To Repurpose Content And Increase Conversions | Episode 69

Awesome Ways To Repurpose Content And Increase Conversions | Episode 69

Building a successful counseling business includes a lot of moving pieces. The podcast episodes help counselors in private practice level up their business and develop strong marketing strategies for the therapy business.

Most of us can agree that the process of creating content can be time-consuming. Learn effective and creative ways to repurpose content.

Before diving in please know that the links shared below are affiliate links from parties that I trust and have used.
Gather all of your blog posts and organize them by topic. Once you do this, work to create a course from the information shared in the blog post. You can use Teachable (https://teachable.sjv.io/c/2939662/998787/12646) For instance if you gather blog posts that have to do with teaching kids how to build healthy esteem. The information in the blog post can be converted to a course, that teaches kids how to increase their self-esteem. From your end, you would simply have to create videos from the blogs that you have already written and a few handouts that would support the growth process for students in the course.Take time to ensure that your blog post has internal and external links. This simple addition can grow your readers and lead to stronger conversions.Hire an expert to help you level up your content. I use Fiverr (https://go.fiverr.com/visit/?bta=267474&brand=fiverrcpa). You can find professionals that can use the current content you have to run ads or repurpose it. For instance, if you have a social media account. You can hire a marketing expert through Fiverr that can create ads using the current content that you have as a way to boost conversions and build an income. In addition, you can hire a writer using Fiverr to create blog posts using the social media content that you already have created.Use old content to start an email list. Starting an email list is a great way to build a community and support others all while growing your business.Create short videos using your longer videos. This can make a long video shift to a more effective watch period for the user. For instance, you can pull the key points from the video to directly give the user what they are looking for.Gather multiple images or blog posts and transform the content into an infographic. For counselors, this can be a fun and inviting project. An infographic is simply a piece of art that gives the user education. For instance, you can have an infographic that shows 5 ways to practice self-care. The infographic can include words or five mini images.

So glad to have stumbled upon this

I found this podcast less than a week ago, and I have already listened to more than a dozen episodes. Because it’s EXACTLY WHAT I NEED. And I have really enjoyed it. Juan is really engaging and easy to listen to, and the topics have been right-on for me, someone who is starting a private practice after being out of the field for a while, and my previous experience was not in a private practice setting anyway. There’s variety, as well, and I have to say I’ve loved it all so far. Thanks for all that you guys are doing, it’s making a difference for me.
