Co-hosts Abigail Alpern Fisch and Leo Nguyen from the Coalition on Human Needs speak with national policy advocates Emma Mehrabi from the Children’s Defense Fund and Bruce Lesley from First Focus on Children. These long-time policy advocates and organizers discuss how policy has addressed children historically, the impacts of changing policy for children and families who rely on certain benefits as we find our way out of the pandemic, and how the recently expanded Child Tax Credit passed in the American Rescue Plan and ongoing economic recovery proposals in the American Families and Jobs Plans are revolutionizing the policy landscape regarding investments in children.
