138. Rooted Part 1: Faith- “Be Willing To Say Yes” with Alli Corley and Lisa Robertson A Force To Be Reckoned With

    • Self-Improvement

Would you describe yourself or your family as rooted? In your faith? In friendships? In your community?
In today’s episode, we are kicking off a new series that I’ve been thinking about and praying about for quite some time. Over the last two years especially, Corey and I have noticed the lack of connection that the Millennial generation culture has as a whole. It’s something we, personally, felt we were lacking in our lives and the idea of being “rooted” has been stirring in our hearts. So I just knew it was time to share about it…and because I have two of my good friends on today as guests, this is an episode where real-life Bethany and podcast Bethany meet and it feels just a bit awkward for me to combine these two worlds but it is just so fun to have Lisa and Alli on as guests.
Today, we share about each family’s experience in being uprooted over the past couple of years, the fight to become rooted again, and how our faith played an instrumental part in bringing our 3 families together when we were scattered more than 3,000 miles apart. As things shut down throughout 2020 and the world was uncomfortable with a lot of things, our 3 families were still hungry for community. Because community was still essential to our families, it began a conversation between us to figure out just what that would look like. Small acts of obedience and small steps of faith have led to a more deeply rooted friendship between our three families. While everyone was being shaken through the unprecedented times of 2020, our roots were growing deep - strong and immovable in our faith, new community, and friendship.
Friend, we know that taking steps of faith doesn’t always make sense in the moment. But be encouraged! It’s okay to question God and wrestle with His leadings, but just don’t stay in that place or give up on having faith. In those moments of wrestling and doubt, dig those roots down deep because that is the foundation of it all. Our hope through this series is that we can take our listeners through different elements of being rooted and that you will see the benefit of it in our world today.
We hope you are encouraged by today’s episode - enjoy!
