Few people have influenced more kids and adults in a positive, wholesome way that Fred Rogers. Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood brought decency, thoughtfulness, kindness and respect to millions all around the world. His example is one we and many others in the summer camp industry do our best to follow.
After watching the recent Won’t You Be My Neighbor documentary, I happened to make a new friend in the summer camp world who was just as captivated with Mr. Rogers as myself. Lee Biear was a camper, counselor, and now works full time in the summer camp world both as a staff member and consultant. The more she listened and thought about Mr. Rogers, the more she thought ‘camp.’
I couldn’t agree more! So, in the celebration of the upcoming Tom Hank’s movie about Mr. Rogers, I thought this would be a perfect time to talk about this great human being around the campfire.
