#231: Saved by the Bell - "Close Encounters of the Nerd Kind"

It's been ages since we last went to Bayside, but here we are back at it with a whole episode dedicated to SAVED BY THE BELL. Zack and Co. nominate Screech to pose as an alien as part of his latest get-rich-quick schemes, but now the government is sniffing around bayside. Ugh!
Plus, Kat clears the air (again) on her thoughts about the new SAVED BY THE BELL and all those ZACK MORRIS IS TRASH videos from years back.

    #230: Who's The Boss? - "Charmed Lives"

Way before THE NANNY ever came into fruition, Fran Drescher casually slipped into the WHO'S THE BOSS-VERSE as Joyce Columbus, a young gal w/ dreams of becoming the next big thing. The only problem... DONNA DIXON was standing in her way.
Yes, Patrick and Kat have gone back to WHO'S THE BOSS, but it's not your average episode of WHO'S THE BOSS. No, it's a BACKDOOR PILOT for a little show that never came to be... CHARMED LIVES!

#229: Preston Prep - “Birthday Joint”
Patrick and Kat slip into the world of Preston Prep. From what we could could gather, it was a very short-lived syndicated teen sitcom in the same variety of Saved by the Bell and California Dreams that premiered sometime in the 1993-1994 television season. It followed the story of a group of teens, mostly rich kids with prestigious backgrounds, who attended a boarding school in New York City. We enjoyed talking about it and we hope you enjoy listening to it.

Patrick and Kat’s “accidental” Rob Lowe themed episodes comes to an end with a celebratory trip to Pawnee, Indiana. Yes, Parks and Recreations makes its AVSP debut with the great debate between Leslie Knope and Bobby Newport. Ooga!

    #227: The Grinder - "Pilot"
This week Patrick and Kat slide into the wild world of one of our favorite cancelled-way-too-soon series, The Grinder, which originally aired on FOX way back in the mid-2010s. It starred our boys Fred Savage and Rob Lowe as brothers. One is a lawyer, the other is an actor who played a lawyer on television, and now he thinks he can do it for real. What a hoot!

    #226: Outrage (1998)
We're back! Sorry, we've been busy... but we're here right now to discuss a made-for-tv movie starring Kat's boy, Rob Lowe, and Jennifer Grey. The best way to describe this movie is it's one of those suspenseful, always-in-peril-type films but in a good way. Yes, we enjoyed it!

Very Special, indeed!

Patrick and Kat are great, and I feel like I'm listening to my own friends! They talk about so many of my favorite shows (and sometimes movies), and it's fun to reminisce with them. Plus they often cover shows I'm not as familiar with, but really should be. Thanks for providing fuel for my nostalgic binge watches!

Bonus points for the occasional Big Brother mention!!

FEUD + BEYOND

I found this podcast through the Feud: Bette and Joan recaps which serve as these wonderful little show notes that tie in these odd but fitting pop cultural references. Likening Joan Crawford to a mastermind Big Brother contestant? Absurdly genius! I'm now cherry picking through their back catalog and the segment I love the most is the TV Listings for a particular night in television history.

I hope they stick with the Getting Catty segments after Feud ends. They keep teasing their love for the Hedda Hopper and Louella Parsons beef. There's oodles of books and documentaries that cover this subject and I'd love to hear their take on it. Or even go behind the scenes of classic television, like I Love Lucy's William Frawley and Vivan Vance's cattiness. It could be like You Must Remember This but unhinged, uncut, and raw.

DIAMOND STAR

This is Danielle from Twitter and I just caught up on the last months worth of episodes and did a spit take when I heard there was ANOTHER podcast calling themselves A Very Special Podcast... and it's run by five men. The patriarchy must be destroyed or at the very least change their name. I guess that's 2017, baby... Is this Christmas ornament worthy?

P.S. - I am still waiting for you two to do a Buffy episode
