USF Elementary Education majors worked with the sixth grade students from Learning Gate Community School to create films about countries in and around Africa. Each group of teachers and students were assigned a specific country. The groups conducted research and developed scripts to present the most interesting and relevant information about their country.
As a South African the video was highly inaccurate borderd on cultural appropriation and failed to represent the ethnic diversity of our country. “Zulu is our native language” implies it is the only one failing to recognize the 10 other official and 5 other spoken languages in South Africa.
