Airplane - with David Zucker - Part I What's Your Name Again? - with Kurt Caceres

    • Comedy

No introduction to the man who grew up a die hard Green Bay Packers fan and was the product of a historic blizzard in 1947 Wisconsin is complete, without the mention of Airplane. David Zucker is part of the legendary trio who created the most classic and still to date, most comedic and creative film comedy franchise in the history of Hollywood. He opens up his residence in Brentwood, California to America's Podcaster, Kurt Caceres, to talk about his career and how comedy has changed from the 1980's to present day. It would be impossible to make anything funny now. He said someone once asked him, "David, could you do Airplane today?", and his response was, "of course we could, just without the jokes". The style they created was cutting edge and appealed to generations after. However, with cancel culture, Karens, over sensitive American's and any other complaining movements out there, the acceptable topics of humor these days are far and few between. He said they hired actors on their films, not comics. They had to stick to script and never adlib, often rewriting on the fly in the middle of shooting a scene, opening the floor of creative ideas to anyone in ear shot, even crew members. The behind the scenes stories David shares are both timeless and inspirational.
