Episode 183: C-USA Media Day and 2022 UTSA Fan Survey

Episode 183: C-USA Media Day and 2022 UTSA Fan Survey

Let's face it, Frank Harris's orange slippers stole the show at Conference USA media day. Of course we talk about the drip, but we also try to parse out the real talk from the coach speak at media day. Credit to Conference USA for putting on a pretty nice event!

    (C-USA officials stop reading)

At the break (26:50) we dive into the results of our first UTSA Fan Survey. The response was really reassuring, as we received over 150 responses to the survey. Key takeaways? Most UTSA fans appreciated Conference USA, but its flaws were extremely aggravating. Roadrunner fans love the current leadership on campus, and really can't wait to be in a conference with SMU.

You can read this post for the full survey results.

The next time we step behind the microphones it will be football season! Let's get it.

Episode 182: Interview with Draw the Line author Dr. Hunter Taylor

Episode 182: Interview with Draw the Line author Dr. Hunter Taylor

Last week we published a book review for Draw the Line: Jeff Traylor, the Gilmer Buckeyes, and a Season Deep in the Heart of East Texas. We're now joined by the book's author Dr. Hunter Taylor to talk about the shared rituals of high school football Fridays in small towns, Jeff Traylor's rise to becoming a Division I head coach, and much more. We can't stress enough how enjoyable of a read Draw the Line is. If you're in the San Antonio area be sure to make it out for the book signing event at The Well on 7/19, or purchase a copy through Dr. Taylor's website.

Our interview with Dr. Taylor starts at the 28 minute mark.

Before we get into our interview with Dr. Taylor, we also spend some time discussing the release of Dave Campbell's Texas Football magazine, as UTSA is prominently featured throughout the mag. We also reacted to a great podcast interview between two long-time guests of the show, Mike Craven of DCTF, and Javi Cardenas of BirdsUp.com. You can find their full interview at this link.

Episode 180: Young quarterbacks let it fly at the 2022 spring game

Episode 180: Young quarterbacks let it fly at the 2022 spring game

Nothing says "April" quite like paying taxes and watching the UTSA football spring game. One was a bit more enjoyable than the other for us this year. Jared and Adrian go position by position to identify some of the standouts and surprises of the spring game, as well as hone in on the areas which could use the most improvement with additions from the recruiting trail. Would it be worthwhile for UTSA to invest in streaming the spring game? We also highlight the Roadrunners' newest addition in the last few minutes, a transfer cornerback from TCU. Subscribe to our Patreon for a second podcast coming this week as we cover some monster commitments for women's basketball, as well as news updates across several different sports.
