    Superman Syndrome

    Superman Syndrome

    What’s your super power?

Don’t answer that, since you don’t have one. If you think you really have one, contact me. I want to be the one person who breaks the story of The Guy Who Can Turn Invisible or The Woman Who Can Run Seven Times Faster Than Any Other Human. That would be so very cool.

So, that’s not what we are talking about. You’re welcome to imagine that you have a superpower, but it probably is just adding to the problem I am trying to fix.

So listen in, and here’s the index for this episode:

Effect: An infinite loop in which you push yourself too hard and have obnoxiously high standards for something and it creates stress, tension, unhappiness. it wastes time, energy and resources.

Cause: An event or set of rules (see podcast)

Solution: Awareness and understanding of your flask (see podcast)

    Happy Father’s Day!

    Happy Father’s Day!

Whether you are a dad or fulfill the role of one, you make a difference in the life of someone. So, Happy Father’s Day to you.

Today we celebrate by chatting with Mark Williams, Tedx speaker, dad and advocate for men’s mental health. He has his own story to tell and we delve into what set him on the path as an advocate. he shares some suprising, and not so suprising facts about fatherhood and mental health.

Like many others, I have had a rather solemn experience raising two kids by myself. And as a man I can tell you things were at the least not as expected and at the worst a bit shocking.

It is so nice to see people like mark who are not only interested in this journey, but in developing a much needed support system. The day after father’s day (tomorrow) is international men’s mental health day.

PS – As a thank you to dads, The Sword and the Sunflower is completely free on kindle this weekend. If you like it, perhaps you’ll pick up the vivid paperback, if not it’s still absolutely free as a thank you to all the dads out there. Enjoy!

PPS – Mark actually read it and was kind enough to give it a great review. As an interesting side note, he commented on the layout. As someone who deals with ADHD he found it particularly easy to read. Thanks Mark!

    Is your filter broken?

    Is your filter broken?

In my podcast called resilience is a system of your own personal resilience to things in your life comes from a web work of other people.

You can’t really do it alone. I envision it as a web because it stretches and pulls back and forth and when things stretch in one direction your friends and family stretch it in other directions—thus keeping things balanced.

There’s another version of that-the web work of sorts that is managed by friends and family. It relates to your quality of life, what you encounter and what you’re exposed to. I’m not talking about those that live in a bubble or an echo chamber—which are detrimental things in their own right. I’m talking about a tribal mind based on trust.

A filter in its most basic form keeps out the things you don’t want and allows things through that you do.

Our friends and family and acquaintances and network do the same thing.

In our business world we are all forced to network probably more than we want.   Our ultimate goal is to make more contacts, gain new  clients, spread the word about our product and learn how we can better help other people.

If one of the people in our network is explaining our product wrong, giving false information about what we can and can’t do, even calling into question the quality of our product, then that’s a problem. That part of our filter is broken. They are not letting in those who would be great clients. They are turning away clients and even poisoning some of the fish tank.

What happens if the filter fails?

Let’s talk about it on the podcast… Come join me.

    Implementation

    Implementation

    The I Word

People approach me all the time and say what if you did this? What… you did that? Everyone has great ideas. Everyone has crazy ideas. Everyone has interesting ideas. It’s easy to come up with a dozen or so half-baked ideas. We do it all the time—especially when alcohol (or even coffee) is involved. But so what? Having ideas doesn’t make someone point at a thing and say “You did that?!” WHat do i mean by crazy ideas?

    Here are some crazy ideas:

You’ve had a lot of dating experience you should write a book about it!

I wonder if there’s some thing that all relationships have in common? That would make a crazy experiment/discussion!

If someone would just put all this coaching nonsense in the one book and just tell you what to do and how to do it. I bet that would be cool. And even with worksheets you could do!

Do you think there’s any way to actually track how much balance there is in your life? I’m sure it’s different for any everyone but are there common facets that everyone could identify with and use?

I saw the scene in my head and boy you could write like a whole book about it! Y’know… it was like…. Wouldn’t it be cool?

Other dating sites suck. They’re all the same. If you examined all of them and then compared them to real life I bet you could make a really cool dating site if you weren’t trying to rip people off!

Some of those may sound familiar to you. Or they may sound like things you’ve said or heard—especially if you are an idea person or someone who has the entrepreneur spirit, is creative, or has crazy creative people in your life. It’s also sometimes the kind of conversation you have a parties.

Here’s the secret:  Each and every one of those things became a real thing.

So what made them different then all the other crazy ideas?

Implementation. What an exciting and sexy word that is eh? (shakes head)

Obviously each thing, each idea, each concept is unique in the way that it must be approached. But they all have that in common. You can have one million ideas every day but if you don’t stop and focus and consider plan and implement, nothing will ever come of it. It will stay an idea forever. Or more frustratingly for you, someone else will implement it and annoy you. And then you’ll tell everyone “that was my idea!”

    Strange things are a foot…ball

    Strange things are a foot…ball

Strange things are a foot in these strange times. if you like a good mystery (and are tired of all the instructional podcasts) then this is for you.

If you are a regular subscriber then you will notice a deviation from the normal podcasts. Perhaps it is because like so many things that were ruined because of the lockdown, April 1st also suffered. Everyone pretty much ignored it. Or perhaps it is because you can only provide free, concise, helpful, useful information to your listeners for so long without a break. Lets go with a little from column a and a little from column b.

Regardless, I hope you enjoy it and get some sun this weekend—assuming that sort of thing happens in your locale.

A Guide instead of a Waterfall

A Guide instead of a Waterfall

First off – Happy Mother’s Day to you! 🌻❤️🙏🏻🌞☕️🍷 May you enjoy the day!

You don’t need more information—you just need to know where to get the information that helps you. This podcast is a podcast of podcasts… So rather than give you even more information, why not make it easier to find and use the great information I’ve already put out there. Here is a quick walk-through of recent episodes, a card catalog, a menu if you will.

During this time you need to know what to do differently, and how to cope with your new reality. If that is what you’re dealing with, then you should take a listen to accountability in trying times and the completely free thing you can do to keep you on track.

If you want a bit of a laugh, then listen to welcome to my world. It was my way of welcoming you to Quarantine.

If you’re having some difficulty starting a big project or accomplishing something that has always haunted you can give a listen to both fourth dimension and messages from you to you and A note from the future. As crazy as those are they actually work.

If during this time you find you’ve lost your passion or you find yourself questioning what even is, then listen to passion.

If you have found that you have far more time to be alone with your thoughts, you may have become more in tune with the random ones. If they are driving you crazy, fear not, as in the podcast random thoughts we’ll show you just how useful they can be.

If you don’t know if you’re looking for motivation or information or both, give a listen to motivation or information?

If you are one of the people that thought that being cooped up for an extended period of time would allow you to simply finish that novel and the two other podcasts on writing a book – Writing that book, writing that book part two.

Though being in quarantine may force you to have more time to be creative, you may also find yourself questioning what you create more? If that’s the case checkout does this suck?

If you want to mix things up a bit then listen to some of my interviews with amazing people. One of my more recent was with Author Scott Adams. You’ll find his books are great and motivating and explain much about success. The talk with him was very candid and very interesting as always.
