Episode 31: Family Album
This week, Tim, Nick and Marty continue their deep dive into the world of Astro City with Family Album! We explore the themes and stories behind these collected issues, which focus on the idea of super-hero family.
Now, the only drawback in spending so much time digging into Astro City is we don't have a lot of time left to talk about what we're reading IN ADDITION to Busik's wonderful world. We plan on returning to our Pullbox soon -
Episode 31: Better Man
In this episode, Marty and Nick deconstruction how the patriarchy impacts folks who identify as men. We also then look to our primary touchstone -- Comics -- to see how what we can glean on what it means to be "a better man."
We're delving into this topic because we have spent a lot of time deconstructing toxic masculinity without building up a better replacement. Tearing down terrible constructs and institutions is good. Given folks examples of what it will take to be 'good' is better.
Please like, share, and let us know on Facebook what you think of this conversation? What did we miss? How does feminist and queer theory address these concepts in a more meaningful way? What comics do a fantastic job of not just deconstruction, but reconstruction -- if reconstruction of masculinity is even the way we should go? -
Episode 29: WandaVision
This week, we take a break from our deep dive into Astro City and focus instead on the MCU's newest show, WandaVision!
Marty, Tim, and Nick do a quick recap of the entire series and share some of the connective tissue from the comics. We also delve into our speculation about the Big Bad behind everything and some of our more wild wants and theories.
Join us in Westview, y'all! And beware, Spoilers Abound! -
Episode 28: Superman of Metropolis with Sean Lewis
Listeners, one of the first folks to reach out to us was an up and coming comics writer named Sean. He found the show, reached out to us, based on the fact that the book he was working on jived with Marty's job. So we interviewed him and talked Coyotes, Saints, and a mutual love of comics. Not too long after, he came back to talk about The Few, the end of Coyotes, and hinted at a BIGGER DEAL.
That bigger deal? Superman.
Sean's one of the writer attached to the Future State event, and he has a few back issues that are going to continue past the event.
Join us as our friend comes back to talk about this process, Time Luchadores, how he was approached for the even, and what comes next! -

Great fun with a strong cast
Entertaining discussions of comics past and present, with a focus on the big 2 and Image. Chemistry of the cast is excellent and makes the conversations enjoyable and fun. If you have issues with social justice, this isn't the podcast you're looking for.
It's great!
One of the few comics podcasts that is entertaining to both huge fans and people like me who only read a bit.
