Bible? Still?

If you are looking for a place that still teaches the Bible as if it were the true, you’ve found it. This church is a classic example of what happens when no one ever changes their minds and they just keep saying the same things Christians have said for 2000 years.

I mean seriously, this church isn’t affirming, they still think there are two genders and they only have male elders. Wake up! This is LA in 2022, it’s time to stop pretending that the Bible is true and that Jesus is the only way.

Want to hear about sin every week? Want to hear about how Jesus died a gruesome death on a cross for you? Then this is your place. These jokers stand in the pulpit and admit that they are prideful and selfish and “in need of grace”. Are we still trotting out those tired lines about sin and evil and forgiveness?

If you are looking for a progressive church that will just affirm you and encourage you to be whoever you want to be, then you can skip this place.

Christ-centered, grace-filled

Each week you can expect to hear about Jesus and be challenged by His holiness and encouraged and comforted by His grace. The pastors here stick to Scripture alone as the authority and are committed to teaching the church it’s truth. Each sermon usually has a little bit of humor (even if it’s cheesy preacher jokes) and the humility of both pastors is evident as each week they talk about their own struggles and sins. I appreciate the transparency and reliance on grace because any other teaching or philosophy is so driven by law and unforgiveness it’s exhausting. I am thankful for All Souls Church!

Nope

Please do some simple research on these two “leaders”. The lead pastor left a church in Reno after two decades and a mountain of destruction behind him for which he has never accepted or repented. This abusive leadership was rinsed and repeated when he arrived in 2019 to Redeemer Burbank- now conveniently rebranded (after the majority of congregants left due to the abuse allegations) to this current All Souls Church. This leader has learned from some of the best, as he led his church to be part of the Mars Hill Network (requiring preaching the same sermon series, theology, selling of books etc), was discipled and even referred to Mark Driscoll as his own personal pastor. After MH’s fall, his church quietly exited but remained (and still is) a flagship Acts 29 church (Acts 29 was founded by Driscoll and it’s leaders still speak at conferences with Driscoll today). Ever the Driscoll disciple, he even has two separate podcasts dedicated to telling the stories of victims of his spiritual abuse. The other teaching pastor has mysteriously jumped from church plant to church plant, claiming to be a entrepreneur, while also having documented accusations of spiritual abuse. Seems to be a perfect disastrous match for these two to finally be united.
