All There Is with Anderson Cooper

Anderson’s show is outstanding giving a voice to emotions most of us are taught to hide and suffer alone with. I love how he shares his emotions unabashedly, opening a dialogue men and women have been thirsty for. He is truly unique to comprehend the transformation discussing grief publicly can have. Beautiful show.

I loved sheinelle , interview. I can truly relate, I lost my sister/cousin 9/14/24, my sister 12/13/24, my mother 01/27/25,my brother 05/03/25.. three to cancer ages 59,64,83, my brother 66 to a massive stroke. We all from St Louis, Mo I know God doesn’t make mistake. As a Christian I believe that. I also find it so hard to get thru. My family has had such overwhelming grief from ages 5-88. We are seeing a little light goin thru this dark tunnel. We talk about how we feel what to do to help prayer, excercise, just stay busy. I live in the house were I took care of my sister and mom. I was making sure others were okay. Now I’m really feeling the deep lost.

I love to talk about my parents. Losing them less than a year apart was so hard, and yet so normal and I think it helps others to know grief is normal. My mother took me to pay shiva calls as a child, I think it helped me learn to share grief in a communal way.

Dear Anderson— I am a psychoanalyst and a teacher and a widow of two years. I have spent my career helping people speak to each other about the matters closest to their hearts and hardest to say. Death weighs in heavily on the scales of difficulty. My husband and precious partner of nearly fifty years died two years ago. Since the fog of the first year of disorganizing confusion and fear lifted, I was shocked to discover that the second year left me feeling eviscerated by grief, loneliness, and despair—all the feelings that I’d imagined would/should be behind me. I’ve looked for guidance and comfort in books (as academics tend to do). But I’ve felt that little got through the fog and held my attention. But since I stumbled on your podcast (I think it was your interview with Ken Burns who I actually distantly knew as a kid in Ann Arbor Michigan), I have been captivated by the its immediacy, authenticity, and deeply human emotional connections. All your conversations have been deeply moving and instructive. Your openness insures that this will be the case. I want to let you know how much I admire your decision to share your own journey through/with grief with all us., wherever we may be. Thank you with all my heart for this gift. Jane
