ATC Podcast Episode # 10 With Ashleigh And Samantha From Eliaz

ATC Podcast Episode # 10 With Ashleigh And Samantha From Eliaz

Today I sit down with Ashleigh and Samantha who form the group Eliaz.

Eliaz: [ih-lahy-uh s] – the Greek form of the Hebrew Elijah, meaning Jehovah is our God.

ELIAZ, comprised of Ashleigh and Samantha Harms, are a sister duo, whose harmonies captivate. The South African natives moved to America in 2004 with hopes to cultivate their musicianship while their mom worked as a nurse at a local hospital. The duo started singing together in 2008 and has worked tirelessly to perfect their sound, image, and brand. The older sister, Ashleigh says, “we agreed that if we started this journey, we would want to be apart of every aspect of our careers and do everything until we needed outside help.”

The sisters pride themselves on their work ethic and their need to learn as much as possible about the music industry. “ Our goal is to be sponges and soak up everything and anything that will not only make us credible as musicians but also will aid us in our careers. Music is more than a thing we do, our mother moved us across the world to further our chances and give us the opportunities we’re blessed to have now. “Our career is not just for us but for our mom as well; it’s a way for us to thank her for her sacrifices.” - Samantha.

The duo, who lived in Indiana until relocating to Nashville in 2009, performed around Indianapolis at festivals, showcases, and fundraisers. They not only moved to Nashville to do the commercial music degree at Belmont University but they were also hungry for the bountiful opportunities that Nashville has to offer. The summer after their freshman year, the duo performed at Dollywood for a two-week run and were allowed to perform there again last summer. They are currently working on new original material as well as covers, which you can find on their Youtube, Instagram and Facebook pages.
