Did you get the first part that I sent you, because I want to praise you two up and down the river and back again?

Sara - for Clark I was a good gymnast, 13 year veteran, last meet of my life was probably one of the worst in my life. I left that last afternoon, unbelievably sad, dejected by my time and body and my sport and leader - I felt betrayed by my body, all the memory muscle I’d worked on. I started to feel like the rug was being pulled while awards closing. I had placed in State meet since 7th grade and my last meet of my senior I came up empty handed. Small towns definitely put you in a box, and when you get like front page of the paper accolades, not to mention it was a huge family affair. All the cousins were in it and all the aunts and uncles, all the people.
It took me 5 years to let go of hating myself for just that one day in my life and couldn’t force watching a meet, would like rush panic to change any engagements with the sport. 23 years later and I’ve been coaching for 3 years full time for former teammates and I find it incredibly fulfilling but i, too, was just spinning for years because I wasn’t anyone big not a gymnast or a champion of what was then a total underdog, underfunded sport.

Anyway - I clicked with a lot of what you said. Thanks for sharing, and I love the sweet way you treat each other, it spilled out of my phone to my heart.
