Genealogy is the most wonderful of pastimes. I love it, and you should, too. There are endless reasons why. Genealogy is one of the fastest growing hobbies in the western world, as more and more people discover the exhilarating and slightly addictive nature of ancestor hunting. It’s like an ongoing mystery with clues you have to discover and then put together to come to conclusions about your family’s past. The mystery never ends, because there is no end to the amount of time you can potentially go back in history with your family research. Yet, the more you can discover, the more complete picture of your family you can put together. It’s insanely rewarding, and the more you do it, the more you will want to do it. That’s a given. The Twelfth Amendment: The Constitutional Amendments

The Twelfth Amendment: The Constitutional Amendments

The Twelfth Amendment to the US Constitution gives us the modern way that presidential elections are conducted. The first four US presidential elections were conducted differently, and resulted in some issues between politically opposed Presidents and Vice Presidents. This amendment still governs how US presidential elections are conducted to this day.

The US Supreme Court has broadened this interpretation a little bit over the two centuries since the amendment was ratified to the Constitution. This is what you need to know about the eleventh amendment.

As a genealogist, one of the things you are no doubt concerned with is getting your young children interested in genealogy. After all, you want your genealogy work to be preserved and to continue long after you. Unless you donate all of your research to an archives or historical society, where it may or may not ever be used, you will need to have at least one child in your family who is interested in the work you do and in preserving and continuing it. It’s also a lot of fun to work on the genealogy research with your kids. The best way to get kids interested in genealogy is to start when they are young. Here are five ways to do it.

Jamie Popernack ,

Helpful but leaves groups out

I appreciate the short length and the info. Please include African American genealogy (of Americans of African descent). And also, please include how to explore if one has slave-owners in their ancestry. I could not find anything on either topic on this show so far. Thanks for your work.

Informative, instructional, topical & applicable

I’ve listened and enjoyed this brief but useful podcast for a couple years now. About time I write a review! He dishes out helpful genealogical advice and interesting historical insights on people, technology and events in short extremely helpful easy listening chunks. I highly recommend this podcast to any genealogist/family history buff wanting to practice ever more accurate research while understanding where elusive documents relating to hard to track ancestors may be found.

Side note: I checked out the author and his website today. Will offers many helpful free services and even ebooks; FREE genealogical ebooks. One CAN leave donations for the ebooks but frankly I didn’t for fear his website might be a ploy to annoy with constant sales solicitations later. After all his surname is Moneymaker. No joke. Yet I have a pretty firm suspicion this guy is actually a very generous very smart fellow who likes to pay-it-forward by enlightening fellow family historians. Thank you Will! He has a regular newsletter too which appears to include genealogical helps complete with illustrations which are not part of his podcast. It might be that his ebooks are mainly scripts written for his podcasts. But that’s great too because his podcasts are enormously informative plus interesting.

I have one single tiny niggling suggestion- I do wish Will would reduce the number of “you should” “you must” “you need” statements because they sound a bit bossy or authoritarian. I’d rather hear “You might” “Have you considered” “May I suggest” instead.
