In this podcast, pastor and teacher Dave Hershey invites you to walk on well trodden pathways that guide us to become the people we were created to be. As much as our culture and society has changed in the last decades (and centuries), the pathways to knowing God are what they have always been. On these ancient pathways, we will find wisdom from the women and men who have gone before us. As the prophet Jeremiah was told by God, “Stand at the crossroads, and look, and ask for the ancient paths, where the good way lies; and walk in it, and find rest for your souls” (Jer. 6:16, NRSV).As we enter these pathways, we will learn from the stories - stories of scripture, stories of humanity, stories of theology. Through telling stories and listening to the saints, we will move on our own path towards the divine.

God Becomes Human (What is God Like)

This fall our theme at CSF Penn State Berks (www.csfpa.com/PSU-Berks) is What is God Like?

Today we are diving into Christology. We’ve talked about Trinity and how the church affirms Jesus is God. In fact, Jesus is fully God and fully human. How does that work? What are the implications for God becoming human?

What is God like? How we answer this foundational question will impact every single area of our lives. What is the purpose of life? How do I make things right when I make mistakes? What should I do with my money? What career should I pursue? We all have some assumptions about what life is about, whether we believe in God or not. These assumptions, if we think of them, are connected to our understanding of what is Ultimate Reality. “God” is simply the word we use for this ultimate reality. It begs the question - who or what is God? How do Jesus and the Holy Spirit relate to God? Is God far off or near? What does God desire of me? This semester we are going to investigate these questions.
