Hilariously Entertaining
Someone needed to give you guys a review - so I guess it will be me. I knew Andy years ago when he lived in America and he was/still is the funniest person my family has ever been blessed to know. So how thrilling to stumble across a podcast with him and an equally witty friend discussing movies, running, grammar, expensive yachts and everything in between while being willing to poke fun at and laugh with each other (an admirable British trait). Not to say episode 18 (the first one I listened to) wasn’t without its challenges. For instance - they talked about how hard it is to calculate time and distance, and when you plan to finish, while running a marathon. I agree with that. But what’s equally hard is listening to this podcast on a long early morning run while the rest of Boston sleeps (that place we dumped your tea) without 1) laughing so hard that I wake people up or ruin my pace (which isn’t nearly fast as Andy’s) and 2) destroying my brain trying to convert kilometers to miles. The podcast made the miles fly by. As did heading Mark talk about his ultramarathon experience on episode 18 (“I only have to run 8 more miles” I thought a few times). His 17+ hour race contrasted nicely with Andy’s runs thru Monaco admiring 25 million pound apartments... As someone who has run countless half marathons, 5 marathons, a few ultras and one half Ironman, it was fascinating to hear about the British racing scene while also completely identifying with everything they said about running thru seasons, loving rain on your face, and all the awkwardness that can accompany running and racing. I’m excited for my next long run to listen to more! I guess this means you have a global audience now. :-) - Liz French (was Zelie)
