Viva La Vida (with Lisa Barlow and Damian Bellino)

Viva La Vida (with Lisa Barlow and Damian Bellino)

Put down the apples and honey, let's toast the new year right (with Vida tequila and a side of diet coke -- 44oz, easy ice, with lemon, natch). Today's a special ep, in honor of this week’s Salt Lake City season premiere: a chat Sarah and OG of the AG Damian Bellino shared with RHOSLC Lisa Barlow during June's AG Live online (presented by Looped Live). They discuss Lisa's pre-Housewives work with Bethenny Frankel and Kyle Richards, what Heather got wrong about Lisa's viral "miserable f**ks" tweet, and why the alliance of Heather/Jen/Meredith is so surprising. Yes, Sarah screeches when John Barlow says hi, it's the only sensible reaction - and it's Andy's Girls, Episode 347!

I Want to Talk About Dorit (with Alison Leiby)

I Want to Talk About Dorit (with Alison Leiby)

Sarah rents Being John Malkovich and imagines a time, a place, a possibility of exploring what went through Rinna's mind from the moment "conga" was suggested through the rest of the night. Despondent that tickets seem to be sold out (much like Rinna herself), she finds answers elsewhere - by having one of her fave guests, comedian and writer Alison Leiby, back to the cloff! They discuss Alison's casting suggestion for the RHONY reboot (a Summer House graduation), Kyle's performative relatability, and whether or not Dorit is more of a 'true believer' about Erika's motivations and behavior than Rinna. PK may not love this ep, but Sarah loves him regardless - it's Andy's Girls, Episode 346!

Kathy Wanted to Conga (with Damian Bellino)

Kathy Wanted to Conga (with Damian Bellino)

Sarah awakens from a nightmare, where she was trapped underneath the bunk beds at Kyle's Aspen house listening to Lisa Rinna record a voice memo monologue about The Last Night in Aspen (like "Before Midnight," but endless and without artistic merit). She realizes the best solution to a bad night's sleep is a dream ep - recording AG IRL in the cloffice with OG of the AG Damian Bellino (writer, producer, comedian, and co-host of the pod "You Might Know Her From"). They discuss the value system of sisterhood vs strategy between Kyle, Kathy, and Rinna, how to decipher meaning and intention behind endless conspiracy theories about what actually occurred, and what this means for the reunion (let alone the future of the cast). How low can the Aspen aftermath go, we don't yet know - it's Andy's Girls, Episode 345!

If You Had to Pick a Sister (with Ryan Bloomquist)

If You Had to Pick a Sister (with Ryan Bloomquist)

Sarah watches this week's RHOBH and realizes -- an episode from Season 12 that feels like classic Housewives storytelling? It's a Hanukkah in September miracle! So she lights a cloffice menorah (the propofol candle from Dr. Tiffany Moon), and invites over a Bravoholic with a gift for unpacking plot, Ryan Bloomquist (actor, author, and audience member during Erika Jayne's "Chicago" Broadway run). They discuss the difficulties navigating humility for Erika Jayne and Lea Michele, the difference in how Kyle expresses anger toward her 'spiritual' sister Dorit vs her actual sister, Kathy, and Erika and Rinna's vested interest in exacerbating whatever comes next week. Just like Hanukkah, Sarah will stretch this one solid BH S12 ep into at least 8 hours of sass - it's Andy's Girls, Episode 344

Alternative Facts in Aspen (with Evan Real)

Alternative Facts in Aspen (with Evan Real)

Sarah reacts to the Atlanta reunion the best way she knows how: by going to Petco to buy a bone for her fish son, PK (Drew has truly embraced her spiritual Carrot Top, and unlike Teddi Jo, Sarah supports carrots in all forms), and Zooming up a man who knows himself a Housewife-prescribed cease and desist, Evan Real (senior tv reporter at PageSix.com and co-host of Page 6 pod "Virtual Reali-tea" with Danny Murphy). They discuss why Erika's "fake news" defensiveness doesn't translate on reality tv (or IRL), how the currency of Housewives is affected when the show casts already-wealthy and connected figures, and whether Marlo can (and will) move away from job shaming Kandi. Talk is cheap, unless you've got $750,000 earrings to spare - it's Andy's Girls, Episode 343!

Big Sister Energy (with Matt Rogers)

Big Sister Energy (with Matt Rogers)

It's the day before the BH reunion, y'all, and there's only one way way to celebrate the occasion (that this season is almost done!!). So Sarah invites one of her fave co-hosts back to the cloff, the supreme ruler of culture, Matt Rogers (comedian, actor, writer, podcaster, and television host, whose credits include Showtime's "I Love That For You," the feature film "Fire Island," and the pod Las Culturistas with Bowen Yang. They deep dive Matt's evolution on Kyle, what he believes happened (and didn't) in Aspen, and the difference between morality and legality in defending Erika Jayne. Throw on a tote bag instead of a clutch, and tell Paris Auntie Kyle gets dragged - it's Andy's Girls, Episode 342!

Honest, CONSTRUCTIVE review

The ads. THE ADS! I get a girl has to make a living, but they are oh soo long (10+ min in one episode- I checked). Besides the length, it’s Sarah’s voice that just makes it very cringy. She uses this whisper talk that sounds like she is trying way too hard, and just sounds fake. Interestingly, she sounds so clear and loud on the ads, but during the regular show she sounds far away and low. I don’t get it.
Sarah often goes off on soliloquies where she talks and talks and talks and doesn’t always prove or reinforce her point. Sometimes she offers a nugget or perspective I hadn’t thought of- but 80% of the time it is superfluous. You can say more with less. I do think she sometimes tends to be self righteous, which turns me off and prevents me from listening all the way through. My favorite eps are when she has Damian Bellino or Brian Moylan as guest cohosts, for some reason their exchanges are more back and forth. Lastly, there is an over emphasis on certain phrases which are v annoying: weaponize, “of it all,” genuinely, “the ways that X…”,

Overall, I do mostly enjoy the pod. While I like certain guests more than others, overall I enjoy this nuanced, unique perspective. Please take heed to the feedback others have mentioned, including myself.

Love the podcast! Audio isn’t good

I absolutely love this podcast! The audio is the worst of all podcasts I listen to. I hope the audio gets louder so we can hear the lovely insights!

Conflicted as a listener

On a recent episode Sarah asked if RHOBH is “entertaining” considering all the darkness that’s happened this season. I’ve been asking myself the same thing when it comes to this podcast.
Sarah has mentioned on several shows that certain housewives trigger her. She said she discusses these shows with the mental health professionals she sees. As of late, she talks about how much she doesn’t like what’s happening on RHOBH and that’s it painful to watch. By listening to this podcast I feel like I’m encouraging her to engage in something that causes her harm. With RHOP around the corner I’m not looking forward to her recaps/critiques because she’s very triggered (understandably so) by one of the housewives there based on a personal interaction they had.
I encourage Sarah to pivot to covering other shows. Considering the pod is titled “Andy’s Girls” and not “Housewives Hot Takes” she can easily discuss other shows on the network that don’t make her feel like she’s putting her mental health at risk. My question to Sarah is, how would it feel if you didn’t watch or discuss RHOBH or RHOP?
As a listener, I’d feel better knowing that the host isn’t putting herself through trauma to give me a bi-weekly podcast.
