DISPATCH SPECIAL: Jason Dempsey. Are We Facing an American Insurgency? What Violence Is Yet To Come? Impeachment Gut Check.

Most of the American media is looking back. In this episode, we’re looking forward.
We are now truly a country at war. At war with the domestic terrorists. At war with the coronavirus. At war with a racist legacy. In 2021, America is at war with ourselves.
The Dispatches is a quick-hit series of breaking news podcasts hosted by Iraq war veteran, author and activist Paul Rieckhoff that gives you information and analysis you need to protect yourself and the people you care about.
Dr. Jason Dempsey is a bad-ass warrior-scholar. A former Army infantryman with a PhD in politics. A professor, author, researcher, combat veteran and one of the country’s foremost experts on civil-military relations, Jason is West Point graduate and Adjunct Senior Fellow of the Military, Veterans, and Society Program at the Center for a New American Security (CNAS), and a powerful voice that must be heard.
He led units on the ground in Afghanistan, served inside the White House, and literally wrote the book on the modern United states military: Our Army: Soldiers, Politics, and American Civil-Military Relations. He’s also a dad, a lover of good beer and no-BS guy who pulls no punches.
Jason previously joined us on Episode 76 of Angry Americans. In his last visit was in September, we broke down Trump calling troops “Losers” and “Suckers.” I asked him if the military will save us. We discussed how Generals Mattis and Kelly Were Complicit. We broke down The 19th Anniversary of 9/11. And Jason offered the best Peeps answer ever.
When the news was unfolding, Jason took us behind the scenes, inside the White House and Pentagon, and deep into our history as Americans. He’s back to do it again.
The war is on. This is your update. This is The Dispatches.
The Dispatches is powered by Righteous Media.

See video of this conversation with Jason Dempsey and a range of music, political, business and media players from Chuck D to Jeffrey Wright to Medal of Honor Recipient Flo Groberg to Sarah Jessica Parker to Stephen Colbert to Meghan McCain to Mayor Pete Buttigieg on the Righteous Media YouTube page. DISPATCH SPECIAL: Malcolm Nance. Is An Insurgency What Comes Next? America Under Attack.

DISPATCH SPECIAL: Malcolm Nance. Is An Insurgency What Comes Next? America Under Attack.

This dispatch features an urgent conversation with America’s favorite terrorism expert: Malcolm Nance. The decorated military veteran, MSNBC terror analyst, and truth teller is back. Malcolm has spent 36 years focused on terrorist strategy, tactics and ideology and previously joined us on Episode 81 and Episode 13 of Angry Americans. In his last visit in October, he predicted exactly what we’re seeing in the headlines today. He described the domestic threat that was looming, rising and preparing to attack. Most folks didn’t see it coming. Malcolm Nance did.
Malcolm again joins Paul Rieckhoff to break down what happened inside the US Capitol on January 6th, what most of the media missed about the violent attack, and what could happen next. It’s an expert breakdown from two combat veterans who also explain the big picture.
What are we facing? Is this the beginning of a American insurgency? How violent will the next few weeks be across the country?
Most of the American media is looking back. In this episode, we’re looking forward.

Chuck Hagel. Insurrection in America. Terror in the Capitol. President Mayhem blows it all up. All living SecDefs sound the alarm. The Dems take Georgia. What happens next? The former SecDef and Rieckhoff break it down.

America is under attack from within. Domestic terrorists invaded the Capitol. President Mayhem is blowing it all up on his way out. For months on Angry Americans, we warned that this could happen. It’s a dark time for all Americans. But this episode will help you understand it, unpack the causes and failures, and prepare for what comes next.
Chuck Hagel is back to break it down with our host: Army veteran and Founder of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), Paul Rieckhoff (@PaulRieckhoff). Hagel shares unparalleled experience and perspective in this fragile time. He served as the Secretary of Defense under Obama and as a Senator from Nebraska. An independent Republican and the first Vietnam veteran in American history to lead the Pentagon, Hagel has been a straight-talking voice of reason for decades. And after joining us for a powerful Episode 82, he’s back now to analyze the unfolding national security and political crisis. He also explains how the urgent, unprecedented OpEd he authored with the other nine living former secretaries of defense secretaries came together. How did this happen? What will the military do now? How bad is it all? Hagel also breaks down the historic win for the Democrats in the Georgia Senate run-off election--and the future of our politics. This pod smartly and uniquely tears into all of it.
If you’re not angry, you’re not paying attention. Angry Americans is your trusted, independent source for news, politics, culture and inspiration. It’s a smart, fun and no-BS perspective like nowhere else in the media.

Happy New Year with Henry Rollins. End 2020 and/or Start Your 2021 with the Iconic Punk Rock and Spoken Word Legend.

Happy New Year with Henry Rollins. End 2020 and/or Start Your 2021 with the Iconic Punk Rock and Spoken Word Legend.

It’s a perfect way to end 2020 and start 20201. With the American icon, punk rock legend, thought-leader, author, political activist and spoken-word master, Henry Rollins (@HenryRollins). Henry is one of the most interesting, most experienced, most entertaining, most thought-provoking activists in the world. And a conscience for America.
If you love Henry, this will give you a fix like you’ve never had before. If you don’t know Henry, welcome to a ride you won’t forget. He’s a great American success story. And he’s known our host, Paul Rieckhoff (@PaulRieckhoff), for almost two decades. Recorded earlier this year before a live audience in Hollywood on Valentine’s Day, they candidly, rapid-fire rip through topics ranging from Henry’s epic breakout moment on a New York stage in 1981, to how technology is ruining dating, to his analysis on all the leading candidates for President.
Henry Rollins has been a music and cultural innovator for three decades. From his early days as the front man for Black Flag and The Rollins Band, to films to TV to books to hosting his own radio and TV show, Henry is a voice of power, insight and clarity. He’s journeyed around the world as a curious traveller, a musician and touring for his music and spoken word shows. He’s seen over 100 countries, been to war zones, won a Grammy, and acted alongside Al Pacino. He’s an activist for gay rights, the freeing of the “West Memphis Three”, the legalization of cannabis and has performed for US troops on USO tours in Djibouti, Kuwait, Iraq, Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan (twice), Egypt, Turkey, Qatar, Honduras, Japan, Korea and the United Arab Emirates. He’s a wise, funny and learned man.

    90. Jason Alexander. He’s back! Our Second Annual Festivus Holiday Special with Jason. Rieckhoff’s Christmas List For America. VA Secretary Wilkie Must Resign. Tom Cruise is Not Wrong. COVID Blessed. Pancakes or Waffles?

Festivus is here again! And so is the great Jason Alexander. Star of stage and screen, winner of Tonys and Golden Globes, loved worldwide as George Constanza on Seinfeld, and insightful dropper of knowledge. Festivus is a secular holiday, made famous by the show Seinfeld and is celebrated on December 23, as an alternative to the pressures and commercialism of the Christmas season.
Like this show (and like America), Festivus was born out of anger. Righteous anger. Tom Cruise righteous anger. George Washington righteous anger. John Lewis righteous anger. But like this show (and like America), Festivus has channelled that anger into positive impact---into change---and into happiness.
After a massive year of serious conversations with Admirals, political leaders, artists--and after a year of pain, chaos and mayhem--the legend returns for Festivus---Jason Alexander [33:00] (@IJasonAlexander) returns to end our 2020 with wisdom, laughs, and perspective. He breaks down Biden’s victory, the Georgia Senate special election, the devastation of the entertainment industry, the first concert he ever attended, and pancakes vs waffles. And our Paul Rieckhoff (@PaulRieckhoff) breaks down the latest on the vaccine and the military, why every leading veterans group in America has called for Veterans Affairs Secretary Robert Wilkie to resign, why Mayor Pete Buttigieg could be perfect as Secretary of Transportation and professes his love for Emmet Otter’s Jugband Christmas. It’s a heart-warming, enlightening and inspiring episode that’s the perfect holiday treat.
You can also watch video of this conversation with Jason Alexander and a range of music, political, business and media players from Chuck D to Jeffrey Wright to Medal of Honor Recipient Flo Groberg to Sarah Jessica Parker to Stephen Colbert to Meghan McCain to Mayor Pete Buttigieg on the Righteous Media YouTube page. The defacto leadership of western democracies

Paul I am a huge admirer / fan of your podcast - please keep it frosty. I would to here your opinion on the following statement - which I wrote the day after the first presidential debate; “In the wake of the first presidential debate I will have to conclude that Trumps despicable behavior is in fact surrendering America’s status as the defecto leader of the free world of western democracies. The winner of last nights debate is clearly the authoritarian advisories of America. A very sad day for democracy.”
No one in their right mind can expect our allies around the world to fully trust America after Trumps incoherent, horrendous, degrading and in dignified display. I would even go as far as to say that his performance pose a huge risk - in my mind he has given license to authoritarian “governments” to do pretty much what ever they like. Thanks in advance and keep up all the great work you are doing on behalf every American. Regards Carsten

Post election update 11/13
You are so right in pointing out the Democrats historically baffling re occurring ability to self destruct. It is more important than ever to unite and fight in the runoff’s in Georgia otherwise Biden’s first 2 years in office will very difficult.

1/82021
More than ever I feel like a ship without a harbor- I moved to America in 2004 as I saw America as the last best place on earth, the shining light, the beacon of light and the deserved and rightful leader of the free world - despite all its flaws. But the mayhem of Trump that culminated 1/6/2021 has left me in disbelief. The day 1/3 of us feared, 1/3 of the country watched in disbelief and sadly 1/3 of the country hoped for. Where do we go from here - hopefully forward. But there have to be consequences, there have to be some soul serious soul searching. The key in my mind is we as a country have to move on from entitlement and self pity and whining, which these day seam to be a prerequisite for the majority of republican politicians. I have always seen myself aligned with the principles of the left leaning hippie Republican If that even make any kind of sense and I still do. Hence the “ship without a harbor” start to my rant. Keep up the good work

Thanks again for a great podcast

My Favorite Listen

I always learn something interesting and valuable. Subjects are timely. And there is always a positive message to take away.

Paul is an independent voice that I seem to agree with on most things. Most importantly, he is a voice for veterans and puts so much of his energy into supporting them and speaking up for them. I respect this enormously.
